Skimmer maintenance?

I clean the neck and collection cup and becketts regularly on my MRC skimmer, but I was wondering if I should soak and clean the main body/box also. I am sure it wouldn't hurt to do occasionally, but I was wondering if anybody actually does this?

When our tanks crashed we pulled apart both skimmers and cleaned the bodies of them. Granted they are HOB and probably accumulate a little more junk, but there was a bunch of stuff that came out. We don't do it regularly, but probably 2-3 times a year would help.

We clean the pump at least monthly and the collection cup weekly.

I clean the pump occasionally, the body once a year :-[ maybe, and the collection cup and neck pretty regular.

I obviously do the cup daily and wipe around the neck on my asmg1. I do a total cleaning maybe once every 3 months.
