SPS Acclimation

After failing to host acros in both my tanks (10g and 100g).. What do people do to acclimate their acros? How much par do you give it?

Bottom of tank when new , then adjust.

Not terribly experienced but lower light is better than higher and short term lower flow is fine. So bottom of the tank, in an area of good flow

I just pop em in and put them where i want them. So far so good!

Frag rack in front of tank midway up. I check on them every day or so and .are sure polyps start coming out. I leave them on rack for a few weeks, then I glue frag plug on to rockwork and leave alone

I have had better success placing them on the spot!! They don’t have to adjust twice.

i've tried a lot of frags..
walt disney, bill murray, cherry bombs, pc rainbow.. all have perished over months.
they all start in my QT tank (10g), i typically start them up high as i'm running an AI prime that gets it around 220 par..
Perhaps they would do better if I start them all lower and just keep it there during the QT process

I don’t think 220 par has to anything with you losing those Frags. My Frag rack a bit more than 400, (thanks goodness) I don’t lose Frags there. I honestly think Luck has a lot to do with it too.

Down low/sand level when you first get them and slowly move it up every 2-3 weeks a little higher and then a little higher until you get the "happy spot". They could be getting to much light at 220 par when you first get them. I don't think i even have 220 par in our entire sps tank LOL.

This is the conclusion I am leaning towards as well! I hope this may be the answer.. I will definitely try this on my next few SPS frags

I got these fried in May 1. Second picture is June 4, and the other pictures are around 2 or 3 weeks orange passion.
I only put it in the Frag rack because I didn’t know where to put it for one day or two and he’s getting around 500 par

I see all acros..high end ones too. Have you ever tried easier sps like pocilo or montis? Birdsnest?

montis are doing OK in my QT system, havent taken them out to my display yet.. I would say they are surviving, but not thriving.
@Stephen8169301 did a run for picking up some freebie montis a couple months back, I think his has grown significantly while mine hasnt shown much if any growth during this time.
I've tried to do a forest fire digitata as well. It wasnt doing too hot in my QT, but moved it to my display, surviving, but hasnt grown

I ordered some lens for my phone so i can send a tank shot tomorrow
