substrate for my tank.

In the absence of southdown playsand should I
a) pay $35 per 20# bag of sand in the fish store
b) go bare bottom with no substrate
c) use crushed coral (I have a 50# bag)

all opinions are welcome.

As of right now my tank is bare bottom, just about to complete it 30 cycle. I found the unopened bag of crushed coral as I unpacked a random box left over from my recent move.

Would do B. for easier maintenance purposes but I like the look of sand too much.

Although I'm not excited about paying a lot for sand,(A) looks like the the way to go.

Would any of you put the crushed coral in the refugium, or just not use it at all?

I had crushed coral and could not keep nitrates down. Go bare or sand ;D

Or you can take a ride to Toms River and have your choice of sand. Cheaper.
