Tangs and macro algae

Does anyone feed their tangs macro algae...

I have a sailfin tang and I was cleaning my fuge/ sump and some of the macro went in the display tank and he ate it up.... He seemed to enjoy it...
So I gave him a small clump and he devoured it..
I have Cheato/ Caulerpa/ and Ulva... He eats them All....The Dwarf Angel Loves it also!!!

Does this seem like a decent way to supplement feed the tang..
Also could be a decent method of Nutrient export...

well some people say that it defeats the purpose of nutrient export but it's free food and not like you give it all to them anyways. you can feed them but everything the algae soaked up will be coming back out into the tank

i would just be careful what type you feed them. you dont want that pesky caulpera running rampage in your main show system

Calupera is rare to over run the tank. even if a piece grabs hold the tangs will probably keep it mowed back and you can always pull it and be done with it. I have it in my tank, my brother has it in both his and no problems. just yank some out every once in awhile

My tangs LOVE when I throw some caulerpa into the display. I don't want to jinx myself by saying it'll never take over my tank, but the way my guys and gals go for that stuff is totally unreal. I don't do it every day, just every once in a while, and only a little bit. :) The stuff grows like crazy in my refugium.

Thanks for all the responses!
It won't over take the display the way the tang devours it....
I guess it's just his little treat...
I will continue to throw a small piece in once in a while though...
