i am so lucky to have such good friends and neighbors. my two refrigerators are full of casserole dishes and all sorts of food. i guess they dont want me to starve.
i cant drive yet and my wife cant drive so we are kind of stuck. our friends next door are taking us out to breakfast in a few minute.

i help as much as i can to get my wife dressed then she helps me because i still cant move my right arm. but its coming along

the tank looks very healthy. all the fish are active and happy looking. i have been feeding my whteworms yogurt and they doubled in numbers so i can give more of them to my fish. i have a lot of large pieces of codium seaweed floating around beause i need 2 hands to secure it.

i also have large strands of nusience algae growing mostly in the back.. i normally suck that out with my diy canister filter.

my neighbor came over to help with that and it has been runnng for a few hours so the tank is crystal clear and soon he will remove it to clean.

i may build another one of those and give it away just to get an opinion on its use. i dont think i will go into business or anything but if i do, i will advertise on here. or maybe i will just give them away.

Hi Paul, is that filtration system your showing in the previous post going to replace your Diatom filter? With Diatom no longer in business, we can moght be able to use something like this for mucking out the tank from time to time. Those pleated cartridges are a bit easier to deal with compared to diatom powder.

Glad to hear the shoulder thing went well.

yes. it uses no powder and is simple to use. the cartridges last forever and after 5 or 6 uses i just add a litle bleach and they look brand new.
takes about a minute to clean the unit unlike the old diatom filters.

i use it all the time to remove detitus and dead algae or cyano

I have this very cool macroalgae growing in my tank... i don't know where it came from, probably the sea behind my house. it is probably invasive and will cover my entire tank, but so far I like it.

So the surgeon removed my bandage, and my arm didn't fall off. he said there was much more arthritis in there than the X-ray showed, and my rotator cuff didn't have any more rotations left in it, as it looked like it had an argument with a chainsaw and lost.

But that's what happens to real men if we live long enough. If you didn't tear that 5 or 10 times, you didn't do enough in your life or have enough fun.

I came into my man cave to feed my fish, and it sounded like Niagara Falls. water splashing all over the place like I had a manta ray with ich.

it was my diy algae scrubber. The mesh came out from the tube that supplies the water to it, so the water was falling unrestricted, right into the tank.

I don't remember how old the mesh is, but it is over 10 years old, and plastic tends to become brittle over time. It has 2 holes in it that stainless steel screws go into to hold it in place.

i sewed up the rip in the holes with fishing line but i need two hands to get it back on the tank so i had to call my neighbor because i wont have the use of my right arm for a few more weeks.

Of course, I could change the mesh, but it takes years to get the thing to grow algae like I want.

I ordered some 1/2" acrylic for the base of those filers and I want to build 6 or 8 of them just for fun. They cost me about $130.00 to build
which is about what the old diatom filters cost to buy and I am buying everything retail.. If I wanted to start a business, which I really don't, I would get the parts wholesale for much cheaper. But when I build something, I build it from the best materials.

Acrylic and stainless steel.

this morning I got up when I usually do at 5:45 to go on my walk. I lost a few days while I was in the hospital and when I couldn't stop screaming from the surgery, so I wanted to take a long strenuous walk today.

I went into the kitchen to make a cup of coffee and go on my fish forums to see what was new or interesting. Usually at about 6:45 it gets light enough outside that I can walk without a flashlight and I like to go to the beach to film the sunrise.

I finished all my coffee and forum nonsense, and it was still pitch dark outside.

I then figured that that comet that was heading toward Earh hit us and blocked out the sun just like the one that supposedly killed the dinosaurs.
(I don't believe that and know that ich killed them)

OMG, i didn't even hear the big bang and wondered if my fish were OK.
As I was looking at my computer, I saw that it was really 5:45 and I forgot that that old clock doesn't have a clue about daylight losing time so I had to set it.

So, I waited an hour and took a really long walk most of which was mostly upstairs.

Then after I finished that I came home and baked left handed muffins for us and my neighbors next door.

I recently got these 4 fish in Petco. (yeah, I know) But the salesgirl was cute and wanted to know about salt water fish so I felt bad not buying any.

This guy was a couple of weeks ago.

And these two neon gobies on the right and left and the "gobi" I think, in the center. All doing great.
