Tank birthday and I'm a Geezer

I received some 1/2" acrylic and before I build another complete unit, I will replace the base on the one I use for myself.

The base of this prototype is particle board covered in Melamine which is another word for garbage so I will replace it with acrylic. I don't think I can thread the holes left handed so I may have to wait a week or more

Let's remember that today s Veterans Day. If t were not for Veterans, we would all be speaking German and Japanese.

We are going out this morning for our Free Veterans breakfast then a half free Veterans dinner and I may go to Starbucks for a free Veterans coffee.

If I knew I would get all this free stuff, I would have stayed in Vietnam another year to get more coffee and stuff.

Last night I heard a big crash. I ran in the master bedroom and my wife fell on the tile floor. Her walker also fell making the big crash. This is becoming a common occurrence now and due to my surgery, I couldn't even help her. I would normally drag her to the bed where she would put her arms up on the mattress and I would pick up her legs to throw them on the bed.

Of course I can't do that now.

I went to my shoulder surgeon, and my shoulder is very painful today and yesterday. At PT the guy couldn't do much because of the pain (which I think is Sissy pain but I won't admit it)

The Dr. said the shoulder, arm and up in my neck is very inflamed so I can't use it or raise it for a few days as I am overusing it. My wife doesn't want to wave at pretty girls for me, and my fish don't appreciate that I have to feed them with my left arm.

I can't comb my hair or pop blackheads.

Yesterday the smoke detectors in my house all started alarming every hour or so on their own so I removed them. I got 4 new ones today and can't figure out how to replace them with only my left arm and my wife falls almost every day, sometimes twice so I have to drag her to a place where I can help her to climb up on something which is very difficult for her to do as her right leg and arm doesn't really work.

This is not working out well at all. :(

Oddly enough, I was just taking a shower, and I heard that crashing sound that I fear so much. I ran out soaking wet to find her sprawled out on the kitchen floor. Of course, she felt the need t vacuum which is an hourly occurrence. The vacuum broke when she fell and the dust and dirt went all over the place.

Using my good arm I helped her crawl about 20' to the couch where I helped her get on after about ten minutes of trying. So much for babying my arm.

Now she feels bad but this is happening way to much and I don't know what the answer is. I don't want her, or us to move to a home but I am not sure how to remedy this. She is a compulsive cleaner which at our age is just stupid.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO EVERYONE. :watermelon: (I know it's a watermelon. I couldn't find a turkey. ) :whistling:

My Granddaughter Greta made Macaroni and cheese using 3lbs of cheese.

I feel my arteries clogging just looking at it.
I agree, I don't eat that but she felt like cooking something. Even she can't eat it as she is allergic to dairy.

I also hope everyone had a great and healthy holiday.

I am going on my walk now to work off all that food. :confused2:

The sun doesn't rise over the sea any more. I think it is afraid of the water so it rises more to the south. Maybe it only likes ASW.

The sea was a little rough this morning and most of our beach is gone. It's a DSB anyway so it will return.

Great pictures. Just goes to show you how even as we get toward winter the sea shore can have a stark almost rugged beauty to it.

So a couple of weeks ago replaced all 5 smoke detectors in my house as they were 8 years old and I figured it was time.

This morning at 3:30 I was quickly and brutally awakened by all four of them going:

BEEP...BEEP...BEEP...FIRE...FIRE...FIRE...BEEP...BEEP...FIRE...FIRE
Etc.

I get up early but not generally at 3:30. I normally get out of bed at 5:15 or so to go on my Manly, dark, cold walk through the wilderness (street) and down to the churning and angry sea (Long Island Sound) where I mingle with the dangerous and terrifying creatures that lurk there. (seagulls)

I like to get up by the gently sounds of a mountain stream, the rustle of a breeze through the willows or my wife whispering in my ear: "Love of my life, you don't have to wash the floors today".

I checked around the house to smell for smoke and after not finding any, I took down the 3, still blaring detectors in my living area upstairs.

This wasn't as easy as it sounds because my new replacement shoulder doesn't like me to raise my arm straight up yet, not even if the house is on fire.

I could still hear the last detector downstairs in my "very cool and Manly Man cave" so I had to go down and check. I am running around in my "speedo" and it is 22 degrees outside so I didn't want any of the Ladies to catch a glimpse of me or they may want to follow me into my Man cave and do things like, help me feed the fish or worse.

I thought for a moment and realized I didn't have any firefish or flame angels but I do have two Fireclowns. Could they have spontaneously burst into flames?

I got my coat on and ran downstairs. I'm old so I don't run that fast, but I got there and opened the door. No smoke. No fire. No flood. I looked in the tank and the two fireclowns were just mating, something they have been doing for the 35 years I have them.

Now I have to see what I can do to slow down their lovemaking so I can get some sleep. And today we are having a house full of people for dinner and I have to make bread, clam chowder and a seafood pasta dish.

I don't understand these tests that many people get from Aquabiometrics to see if they have disease organisms in the tank. If they did that test in natural seawater all those diseases would be present like they are supposed to be and have been since we kept trilobites in wine barrels. The presence of different parasites and bacteria doesn't mean anything, since all healthy fish (in the sea) carry them. Maybe it's me because I like a natural, healthy, long-lived tank. I am going to eat worms.

My tank is running well, I don't hardly mess with it because I have other, more important things to do but I think it needs some calcium as I have a montipora that is bleaching. I rarely put in hard corals because I really don't test and just want an easy, no-maintenance tank, which I kind of have.

I am not really interested much in corals anymore and concentrate on fish health and longevity.

As I keep saying, I have not lost a fish from any of the diseases I see on these forums in many decades and I have never de-wormed a fish or cleaned one of flukes or anything else. I don't dip, observe, or medicate any fish, and I don't lose any during my very short acclimation. They are all happy, healthy, and many are spawning.

At my age, I am thrilled I don't have to go through all that nonsense.

I have enough trouble taking care of my wife.

Now I am going to sit back, put on some Righteous Brothers oldies and relax. It's too early to sip Grand Marnier.

I had to goggle Aquabiometrics. I totally agree with you. I wouldn't test for disease organisms in my tank.

Never too early for Grand Marnier!
