Last night we had tickets to a theater here. Suffolk Theater, which was built in 1933, so it is before my time, but it looks like a Broadway theater, which we have been to more times than I would like to count.
The town I live in was settled in the 1600s so we have a few old things here besides me.
Many of the roads and towns are named after Indians, or Native Americans, even though here they call themselves Indians.
Anyway, the show was a single Italian girl, and she did a one-hour and fifteen-minute monologue about the way we old Italians grew up in New York. She was from Staten Island, where many Italians settled. My family settled in "Little Italy" here in Manhattan in about 1903.
It was a comedy, and she was very funny and a fantastic singer. Her last name is Guardino, and she was remarking about her uncle Harry Guardino, who was a fairly popular actor in the 60s/70s. (He starred in a WW11 movie named Pork Chop Hill) She put his picture up as part of her act. He is actually my cousin, so it was weird.
We went with 8 other people and before the show we ate at an Italian seafood restaurant. I had the Ahi Tuna.
