Teflon tape to tighten a gap?

So i just got my Dual reactor from BRS today and of course nothings ever easy... The tubing doesn't fit my powerhead so i added a slightly bigger tube to the end so it fits into my powerhead outtake but it's still alittle to small so i'm wondering what should i use to make it fit better? Is teflon tape safe?
Thanks,
~Nick

If its real close to fitting you might be able to sand the nozzle down a bit on the powerhead. It went right on my maxijt? You know the powerhead doesnt go in to the tubing, it goes in to the fitting then the tubing goes in to other side of fitting.

Thanks,
I'm actually using a aquaclear 50 powerhead so the the fitting is too small (they were out of maxi jets..) :( But i just got it in place ended up getting some tubing to slide over the output and then i slide it over their tubing. So i'll test it for leaks after i rinse the GFO and carbon. ::)

EDIT: Which media should go first? The GFO?
