Toadstools Acting Weird

Im curious why my leathers (toadstools) have stood up including the top (head) they have been in my tank since 05/2008 they are approx. 5" big very nice. Today I noticed that they sucked in the top, they usually drope down and expand the mushroom top and all the little polyps are still out. No changes to the tank same lighting, pumps (flow) what give ?

Very strange but they are back to normal. The have mushroomed again and look happy again.

Had mine forever. Some times he doesn't follow routine and looks wierd for a day or 2 then it's fine.

I have also seen this on one I used to have. It almost looks like it sheds a little bit and then goes back to normal a few days later.

Part of the growing process is to shed a layer of skin, almost like a snake. Once the layer of skin is shed, they typically go back to "normal". This is very common for leathers, especially during growth periods.

Sometimes they may be near something that is stinging it.
