torch coral as host for clown

is a torch coral easier to care for then a bubble tip anemone. I have read that clowns will host in a torch, and i am wondering which is easier to care for. i have a 14g biocube with 72 watts of PC lighting and good water flow. I am not ready to buy either because i want my tank running for some months, but i am curious. i am interested in an RBTA, but i heard it isnt the best idea to put one in a 14g tank. also, if a clown does host a torch coral, is the clown likely to kill it. I have heard it will be fine, but i want to make sure.

i would prefer the RBTA, but if it isnt going to live well in the 14g then i am not going to do it.
thanks

a 14's to small for a RBTA I'd stay away from it. I've read clowns will host just about anything, mine avoided my torches and just moved the sand out of teh corner of the tank and lived there. I think it's probably preferable they don't host your other coral as it can possibly damage the coral.

Before getting an anemone chk out I think it's Karen's Rose anemone's? try googling it, great website on them and worth a read if you want one.

Depends.... one clowm might host it and another one of the same clown might not. Also one coral might not like it and another coral of the same kind might like it

I had two pair of Clowns hosting a Tourch coral at different times and they both needed to be removed from the tank cause the Clowns skin started to get a white mucus on it. Once I took them out and put them in another tank, the mucus was gone. I put them back with the Tourch and the same thing happend again. This time I removed the Tourch and the Clowns got better. I'm thinking that the Clowns skin was to sensitive since they always rubbed against the Tourch but this happend with both pair of Clown. I currently have a Hammerhead and the Clowns are hosting it and loving it.

would i be able to get a hammer coral?? my specs are a 14g biocube with 72 watts of PC lighting and good water flow

if so, would i be safer with a hammer over a rbta

My clowns host in my frogspawn. I'd say you've got a good chance of that (or even GSP). Both are easier to care for than an RBTA and neither will wander around your tank (much).

We had our clowns host our frogspawn so a torch is not a stretch. I would probably recommend frogspawn (or hammer), our torch coral is getting to big for out 20g and is constantly stinging things. We have to leave so much space around him it takes up too much room. Frogspawn can sting corals too but the polyp extension is not a big.

You guys are lucky, my true perc doesnt host my frogspawn or GSP. He sleeps in the corner of the tank, no real interesting behavior.

If it were me, I would go for the frogspawn.

I have a torch, hammer, and frogspawn and have found the frogspawn to be the easiest to care for.

That said, a frogspawn can take up a lot of room as it grows, but they are easy to frag so you can always keep that in check.
