Transferring 150 watt halide light to 250 watt?

Lighting is not one of my specialties so I may be going out on a limb on this one.... I was wondering if there is any way I can switch my (2) 150 watt halides to 250 watt bulbs ballasts etc... what if wired in (2) 250 watt ballasts and fit in (2) 250 watt bulbs... Like I said when it comes to lighting I have no idea what I am talking about so any kind of help would be appreciated... Even just to tell me im crazy...

I was thinking about doing that with my outer orbit unit a while back and i called the manufacturer and they said i was crazy ha so if you can do it then go ahead but if I'm not home to watch the light kick on the first week or so then i wouldn't do it IE

I had 2-400's and wanted to run 2-250's instead. I couldnt find a dual 250w ballast and was short on room for two ballasts so I got a dual 175w ballast and a friend of mine (njrc member) removed the 2-175's and wired in 2-250's in the same box for me. I plugged the ballast in, unscrewed my 400's, screwed in 250's and hit the switches on and its been good since then. I know its not a fixture like njstillwell has but I am just letting you know that if somebody knows what there doing anything can be done!

Brizjuan,
If you have 150 watt bulbs then they are DE (double ended) and unfortunately you will have to change both the ballast and sockets, the 250w DE bulbs have different ends than the 150w ones. If you had SE (single ended) bulbs (175w) then you could have just changed the ballast and bulbs to 250w
