Water Changes

Now that I have my lights, I'm curious to see how much evaporation I lose each day, but I'd say if it was about a gallon or two per day, are 10% weekly water changes still needed?

Evaporation is purely water. Everything else (salt, pollution, trace elements) becomes that much more concentrated in your system. When you replace that evaporation, you replace it with fresh water. In order to reduce the pollution in your system and replace the trace elements that are utilized by your fish and/or corals, you need to replace a percentage of your water volume with freshly mixed saltwater.

We topoff 6+g a day in our system with fresh water. We do our change water (with saltwater) over and above the top-off.
