I have a coral life RO unit now . Works good but very slow. Makes 5 gallons of water in 9 hours. This takes forever. It's is on to keep up. Is there a unit that make water faster ?
Your help is appreciated
Thanks
Jenn
Yes there is. They make units that can make 300 GPD (Gallons Per Day of RO/DI). The unit that some of us use around here is the Typhoon III from Air Water Ice. You can get 75, 100, 200, 300 GPD units. The club does group buys with them.
in my opinion (and I am not an expert or used RODI extensively till now) the typhoon 3 is bulky. I just went to measure it - it's 21" wide, 6" front to back, and 15" tall.
That stated, it's not like you have to lug the thing out everytime you want water. Just use the tubes provided and hook it up direct from either your sink or the cold water pipe. I'm not a fan of piercing pipes so I also purchased an adjuster that goes on the sink. Mind you this is my laundry room sink - so it's not the typical fancy faucet.
the 75 gpd or 100 gpd is the same price. I never checked the other sizes because supposedly as you go higher the membrane rejection rate drops slightly. I dunno - like I said I'm no expert. I just got a 75 gpd and it works beautifully.
hands down... SpectraPure's MaxCap system (~90gpd). I can make a gallon of water in 14 minutes at 50 psi inbound. Max Cap DI cartridges are good for about 1200 gallons while a typical resin cartridge is good for 300-400 gallons
You can also modify your current unit by replacing the current membrane and flow restrictor with ones rated for higher gallons per day. IIRC 75gpd has the highest rejection rate/GPD.
