what type of corals??

hey everyone. i have a 90 gallon with 300 watts of metal hallide and 200 watts of power compact. i do not have a RO/DI unit yet. so far i have frilly mushrooms (green) and a basic maroon mushroom. kenya tree, green star polyp, frogspawn, and a leather. what else can i successfully keep? i thought i'd go with beginner stuff. i had a few zoa heads but they were eaten by someone? Koran Angel, Yellow Tang, clowns, damsel??? i really like the frogspawn and mushrooms, but would i be wasting my strong lighting by not trying higher lighting corals?

thank you

joe

i wouldnt say you are waisting your lighting but with that lighting i would say you could keep anything you wanted as long as it in the right location in the tank .
what are your water parameters? if your not using ro/di , and the water quality is lacking i would hold off on the SPS corals until you get the ro/di unit and get your water where it needs to be

if your water quality is o/k then a good starter SPS you could try montipora cap and montipora digitata .
hope that helps .......happy reefing ...al

Frag swap will be a great place to pick up that sort of stuff if you don't find them before that!

i 2nd that :D
ps:what are your water parameters (trates,ph,temp,alk,cal,mag,phosphates,etc...) if your not using ro/di i would watch out for high phosphates and they would kill off any SpS corals ,even the hardy ones

happy reefing.......al

The Angel is not reef safe so be careful what you put in the tank or get rid of the angel. There are a lot LPS corals that you could keep as well.
