2 years ago it was the Purple monster

Last year it was the acanthastrea lordwhensis

This year its a messload or radioactive, purple/red man-eating(?!?), nipple looking, green and pink fringed, fire, water, ice and molten magma, dragon spotted and tiger striped multiples or singles for $5-$45 each!

Poll on!

They look cool......especially after some mood enhancement.

Hey, I was talking about some brew. :p

I like the spots of color here and there, it's like interior decorating for my tank. The bigger corals are the furniture and the zoos are the throw pillows. LOL

I know I'll probably be in the minority by saying this but I wouldn't pay a penny for any zoas. I just don't see the appeal and/or the beauty in them that everyone else does.

LOL that's the reason for the poll! They are beautiful, but for $40-45/polyp! That's outrageous! I guess zoa keepers aren't Pomacanthus angel keepers either!

thus the phrase " Beauty is in the eye of the beholder". But I agree about the hype. I wouldn't pay any more than $1/$2 per polyp, usually. They will have to be something real special to warrant any more. But no more than $5 per polyp.

dont you guys want something like this in you tank ... :p

I can honestly say, no not really. I find they look nicer under a macro lens with a good camera and a little photoshop than they look with the naked eye in a tank.
I can't believe people pay $40+ per head for those!

I used to be all about corals that have flow but now I think some of the sticks are starting to grow on me. I love watching the way they grow!

Come'on Steve, Stop teasing us!!

Deb, Do you have any zoa fields in your tank? That's what I like. When you have a couple hundred/thousand heads all tight together spreading out across the bottom they look really nice. I'm with you on the over priced, hype and all that though. Then at night, when the LED'***** them ........ ::) WOW! ::) Its like a velvet KIZZ poster under a black light.

I am also an SPS freak and have some nice collection as well. Some Zoas are hard to get and some are just common one's . I prefer to have zoas that are amazing in colors rather than regular brown and plain looking.. Its just like Acro's I can have a bunch of acros that are 10 a frag but brown and I will not satisfy myself looking at it or I can add like 30 - or 40.00 more to get some amazing acro's.. When I host a meeting on October you will see my sanbed are all zoas... :) and that pic cost only 10 a head so not bad hehe

Rich ill make you a deal I need a sump .. a nice one maybe we can make a deal...;)

here is a pic not photoshopped as you can see the eggcrate is white  not blue hehe

Yea, that looks cool.
I personally don't think I'd dedicate quite so much of the actual reef to one flavor though. I kinda like the mixed patch look on the sand bed where you can more easily control them. This make good use of the empty snail shells and seemingly countless frags that don't make it.

But I'm sure yours is more like what would be found in nature.

So do I but what can you do. That is why I hope to get some different colors at the meeting so I can mixed and mach into that bed.

I like them to fill in the gaps, and the larger groups look nicer.

I will not pay $40 a polyp, however! I only get what other reefers are trading or being generous with.

My first love remains Euphyllias! ;)

That is really high priced for Zoas!! I guess its a regional thing cause in Florida, you can't give them away!! Most people go diving and just collect them.
