White "stuff"

Help needed. My bf has a reef tank that's been up an running about 3 months. He has no internet so asked me for help. I researched but couldn't find anything. Maybe someone here can help...

He said he has what looks like white algae growing on his snails, coral and glass -- and the snails and corals aren't looking so good. Is it fungus? thanks thanks thanks

He's in Wisconsin with no internet so not much chance of a timely pic.

He says its just like a diatom bloom, only white and not as widespread. Not much to go on, I know.

Did he do all the test and are they all ok?

also find out if he added any additives to the tank and how often his lights are on.
