Who uses Ozone?

If you are using Ozone have you noticed your Orp reading before, during and after you have done your water change?

What is your Orp reading before and after your water change?

How long does your Ozone run after you have done your water change?

It's been many years since I used ozone, so this is from my memory, which is getting older and may not be reliable.

When I did a water change, the ORP reading would drop quite a bit, about 100 - 150, as I recall. The tank would normally run about 400. This isn't really a problem, it's just that ORP readings are a bit funny and get altered by just about anything you do to the tank.

Once the water change was complete, the ORP reading would slowly rise and but the next day be about 20 - 30 higher.

How long ozone will be applied is more a function of what setting you are using with the controller. It could be on for awhile, maybe all day, if the drop was high. You could just unplug the ozone generator for a day if you are worried about it.

DaveK,

Thank you for your response.

Years ago I did use Ozone and Orp monitor.

The reason that I started this thread is to see what different hobbyist are experiencing with their Orp readings before and after they do a water change and to see how long and often the Ozone machine runs between water changes.

I’m working on a pet project and this info will help.

Anyone here that uses Ozone and or Orp monitors please post your experiences.

Thank you for your time,
Garry

I've been using Ozone for a few months now.
When I first set it up, my ORP was in the upper 200's. I was running my Ozone dial at 150. It was running for 2 weeks before it started to climb. I turned it up to 175 after the second week. Thats when I started seeing better results. Almost gave up.
My low side of the controller is set at 365.
My high side is set at 395.
I have 175gallons total water volume.
My top-off turns on twice a week @ 5 gal per. My ORP will drop from 370 to 345 and take about 2 hours to reach my desired level again.
I do about a 30 gollon water change. The ORP will drop to 325 and will take about 4 hours to reach my low level.
