Why do corals slime?

I have noticed lately that a few of my SPS corals slime a lot whenever I does calcium and/or alkalinty buffer (Bionic 2 part).
This is like a stringy white color slime. Is this a bad thing?

Thoughts?

there is 2 things im thinking of- theres slime and then thee are white stings that look like threads. The white threads come out when food, or your hands, or epoxy goes into the tank. the strings come out when anything goes in the tank and they search for food. Now the slime which is a foamy white thick goope that usually comes out when you dip corals in some kind of cleaner. i have one coral in the tank that does the slime once and awhile and i think its producing it to protect it- because my tank went through a crazy alk problem and magnesium. Hopefully That is the problem with my tank because alot of my coral have taken a beating and dont seem to be recovering. Im going to keep watching to see if the sliming of my one coral seems to stop or worsen.

Ok let me rephrase. I am talking about the white stringy material almost like spider web in texture. This definitely comes out when the food goes in the tank.

ok then no need to be alarmed then- these are kinda like coral intestines and aid in the capturing and absorbing food. if you brow on them they will slowly retract inside the coral. no need to worry there sensing food and searching for it.
