Would like help in fragging/cutting my fancy Toadstool

Some months ago I bought a fancy Toadstool, which has quickly more than quadrupled in size. I would like to know how to frag it/cut it. Can anyone please help me out?

Thanks so much.

You can just clip a piece of it off with a pair of scissors. Take the piece and attach it to a rock with a toothpick or by wrapping a piece of tulle around it.

You can cut it in the tank or out (but if you do it out do it over a sink). A long time ago when I fragged a leather I had no idea how much water they hold. I cut it and there was water all over the kitchen counter and floor!

Thanks, Deb.

I'll be able to take it out and do it out of the water, but I'm honest when I say I'll be shaking like a leaf when I cut into it.

Do I have to take some of the foot off as well?

You don't need part of the foot.

I know, it's really weird cutting into it. Made me nervous like I was hurting it.

wendy....if you want a few frags , just cut around the outside edge of the cap making a ring then you can cut the ring into sections and you will wind up with a few frags instead of just 1... then attach to rubble or frag disks like deb said
happy reefing/fragging............al

Thank you all so much. :)

Please don't laugh now. I had everything ready: paper towels, bowl, brand new razor, rubble and rubber bands. I CHICKENED OUT! :-[ What is wrong with me???

The only softy I've ever fragged was a blue-striped mushroom, and that scared the living heck out of me because I didn't expect it to "bleed". Will the toadstool bleed/ooze/slime? How long before I return the "mother" back to the main display?

wendy....keep an extra container of tank water on the side to let the frags sit in after they are cut . this container is for letting them ooze/slime befor you put them back in the tank.
i would wait at least 10- 15 minutes and make shure you run carbon in the main tank to remove any toxins they ooze afterwards.....they will be ok

Wendy. You can also bring it to the swap and I'll frag it there for you.

Mike, I don't think Alex would let me leave the house with it. I never knew someone could have such a "thing" for a leather, but he's quite attached and protective of it. But thanks so much for the offer. :)

Wendy you can do it!!!

I have a tyree's neon green toadstool which is my pride and joy, got it as a tiny piece about the size of my pinky fingernail over a year ago... it's VASTLY larger now, so large that it actually has started sort of curling up on itself and I've wanted to frag it forever but was way to chicken.

Well I finally go the courage about a week ago, I had some brand new super sharp sissors, rubble, and tulle netting. I actually just snipped off two thumbtip sized pieces directly in the tank and then wrapped tulle around them and the rubble and placed them close to the mother. They started opening up right next day (as did the mother) and in less then a week they attached to the rubble and I've removed the netting, they look wonderful and I"m actually planning on moving one to my other tank this week... now that I know it's so easy and the coral does fine I'll be fragging it again soon (hello Christmas money LOL)

Much easier then a zoa or shroom etc if you ask me, and not nearly as messy.
