If I am understanding you correctly. You want to add
A small drilled tank to your system to add a refugium.
Is that correct ?

I am using this acrylic tank as a refugium. I have an extra one you can have for $40

I think it’s 20 gallons.

Pretty much yes. My sump is a 20Long and the fuge is a small section in it.
I am looking to fit it above my sump and i think 20gal is too large

I just did the same thing with a 5 gallon tank that I drilled to add an extra refugium. Tank was only 20.00 and it worked out perfect. Just need to be careful glass is very thin.
