Xenia is one of those myserious weeds, like marijuana. ;D

Seriously, I keep reading how some people have great success, and some people don't. How it pumps for some, and not for others. That nobody knows for sure why it pumps. That sometimes it does great for a long time, and then just dies. That sometimes it'll die, but then if the stump is left alone, and even part of it stays in the tank, that it'll come back. Some people hate it because it's a weed and takes over their tank, and some can't even get it to grow to save their lives.

Hope that helps! ;)

1 year ago I started with this:

Now I have this:

The pieces that have moved onto the back wall no longer pump for some reason. The rest do.

i wish i could get it to grow like that...i have tried with 3 different types and it only lives for a few months and then it disapears on me....
it is a misterious coral and some have luck with it while others don't
be happy your system lets it thrive........happy reefing ....al

Yes, Xenia's very easy to frag. Snip the piece connecting the two and they will continue to thrive as two independant pieces. You can cut the heads off of them and they'll regrow. Move some rubble in between and let it walk onto the new rock (which can then be relocated). In tanks where it thrives you can't do much to destroy it.
