Painting Inside of Stand

Gonna re-paint my stand this weekend. I read a lot about oil based paint vs latex vs epoxy and I think I'm gonna go epoxy since I kept seeing people complain about the latex peeling.

I was thinking kilz primer then appliance epoxy. Anything I should know? Does it make a difference if I go spray can vs brush?

I just painted the new stand/cabinet/canopy I'm building for my upgrade. I used Kilz2 and plan to use a product called RedGard for the very bottom of the stand to seal it up real good in case of a leak.

Kilz2 alone is very good protection against water spray and light moisture. I've used it for my old canopy and I'm always getting drops of water on it from sticking my hands in the tank... and it's held up like nothing ever touched it. Of course I usually wipe away any wet spots fairly quickly but it's never peeled or flaked or anything like that.

I used a roller for the big areas and a brush for corners and tight spots to apply the Kilz2. There is a spray version, but I've never tried it.

Thanks. I think I'll avoid the spray can, just so I can find a way to do this inside. I have to paint the living room before x-mas, so I may just wait to paint it at the same time, that way I can do it away from the tank and it's warmer up there then my basement is with the windows open, lol.

Kilz 2 says it's mildew resistant though. Wouldn't it be a concern that if the paint ever were to chip/peel and fall into the tank that it could cause problems? That's why I was thinking kilz primer, then appliance epoxy to seal it up.

And on the redgard, that looks like it would work real nice, but $50 for a gallon is a bit out of my price range for paint and I only see it in gallon or 3.5 gallon sizes, which is probably way more than I'd need. How much coverage did you get out of a gallon? I might repaint my other stand and if that's the case, maybe I can justify the cost if I can use it for both.
