Have to say you did a FINE job clearing them up. In all the reading I have done, this is the first tank that I have seen with these things. I presume that others have them, just no one wants to show. They are nice looking though.

Everything is in check. Do you have any sand sifting gobies that could get the sand in the water column. Looks like it is some natural event. What is the skimmer doing? Smell anything? How water look now, changes? Darker, Lighter?

Do you have snails in the tank. May be spawning. Do you have clams? Same deal. Is the reactor going nuts?

As for the muratiatic acid, no, no hazing at all. As for fish, 12" is deep enough for fish like: Lined wrasses, pygmy angels, gobies. I have seen copper banded, tangs also in other tanks.
