    thats a relief..thanks ...i think ill still worry a little. after rebounding from the crash in feb '07, i have not left the tank for more then 2 days on auto pilot...i guess here is my test of faith.

    I'm going on vacation tomorrow and my 10 k bulb just burnt out >:( my light fixture is 2X65 pc's...(1) 10k and (1) actininc i have a backup bulb but its 50/50 (10k & actinic) will the tank be ok with mostly actinic lighting for a week? (1)50/50 and (1) actinic ? i have never in 15 years tried...

    no need to nuke the fuge. just scrape it off and remove it some people have had sucsess using calk paste or joes juice to get rid of aptasia... there should be lots of info on it somewhere in the forums or rc's forums good luck.......al

    1,4,&5 look like aptasia anemonies....bad fast reproducers and will take over if given time 2 looks like a type of sponge (cant remember name at the moment)....not a problem 3 look like some type of pods but hard to tell from the pics....not a problem

    on my 20 gal i use a hang on filter for running gfo and carbon and a prizm pro skimmer the skimmer is rated for 80-100 gal but i would not use it on anything over 50 gal. as said above if you plan on going bigger in the future get equipment that can be moved to the bigger set up to save on...

    i would replace the substrate with aragonite sand...same reason as above...and you should rethink the skimmerless idea...imo they are worth the extra cost,especially in a small tank where things can change faster then you can notice...it will remove organics before they breakdown into nitrates...

    very nice ....is this going to be full reef or fowlr as for the id's i would say the worms are bristle worms.. be careful of the hairs on the sides they sting something awful. and the unidentified "cool snail" is most likely a welk . as for the cycle i would let nature take its course...watch...

    yes i know its not a true macro lense.... i didnt have 200+ to shell out for a macro only lense so i got one with a macre feature instead...maybe after i learn a little more and get better at normal shots i will venture into the macro world, might even give night vision a try ;)

    Look what came out of my rock.

    mike .. i just removed one around 12 inches long a few weeks ago... i think that once they get bigger then 4-6 inches or so they become destructive to your corals (mine was eating my zoa's) someone sugested to me to find a fowlr tank to put him in to keep the sandbed clean. happy reefing.......al

    ok...its update time.... the batch of gsp i bought has finaly withered away to nothing... i truly believe that it was due to the poor handling by fedex... i tried all i could do to save atleast a small frag of what i got but they didnt survive the shipping disaster. i would love to try a new...

    i agree with napoli....any mh bulb will add too much heat. try 2 t5's they will definitly be enough over a 5 gal tank

    for mushrooms use a piece of wedding veil (toole) get at any craft store ie. michael...rag shop etc... put shroom on frag rock and cover with the toole and hold in place with a loose rubber band.. not to tight because it will damage the shroom. just make it tight enough to hold it in place then...
