Johns right, the commercial stands are made of 1" boards. Depends if you stand will have legs or sides. The commercial stands have sides which helps to distribute the weight. With legs all the stress is on the legs

While i like the Yellow tang (ok i'm a traditionalist) but as mentioned seems like all others pick on the Yellow. I personally like the purple tang and your sailfin being my second. Of course if money is no object there is always a gem tang, which for some reason was not on your list ;D

hey i would suggest raising the stand. You could build a wood frame for the stand to sit on. Some nice trim around the bottom. or just replace the stand with a new one. see what height you need and see if they have one or can order you one
