I don't think I could sit there and drill a hole in my nail. I'd rather live with the pain and the increased odds of losing the nail. That's got to hurt as much as smashing it in the first place.
Welcome to NJRC. Tank looks very nice :)
Just remember what Mynd said read as much as you can and have lots of patience. Also, don't be afraid to ask questions and expect to make some mistakes along the way. We all have at one time or another.
I'll echo what Carlo and Mike have posted. Thank you very much.
Any idea when our frag swap will be in Oct? I probably won't have any frags to donate yet (tank will still be to new), but I will definatly plan time to be there to help out.
Yea, as you can tell though, I didn't do any finsih work on my stand. I'm just leaving it open since it's really not in a place where I need to close it in. Not like it's in my living room where people will see it all the time.
Leaving it open made it super easy for me to work on, especialy...
Carlo, you don't find that the 20K looks makes the tank look blue? That's the one thing I am trying to avoid. My tank is only 24" high so hopefully I can won't have an issue with light penetration with the 250w MH's.
I originaly was looking at 12k and 14k bulbs, but there isn't a big choice of...
The next set of pics are of the tank in place, the plumbing and so forth. Speical thanks to Sam and Pete for helping my get this tank in. It was no easy task getting it down the basement stairs and onto the stand.
The stand sits pretty high up. From the floor to the top of the...
The next pics are of my sump assembly. I was still waiting on my tank to come in so I was able to use the top of my stand as a nice flat, level surface to construct it.
Well, here it goes. Hopefully the pics are clear and not to large.
General disclaimer - I am by no means a profeesional, lol. This was my first attempt at building a stand and working with acrylic to build my sump. Overall I'm pretty happy with the way they turned out. The tank is full and the...
I got my tubing from HD also.
I ran directly from my RO/DI unit also when I filled my tank. It was about 10 feet over and 4-5 feet up and I had no problems at all.
Cool Sam, moving along nicely!!
Got my salinity up to 1.24, all my rock and sand is in (well, I may add a little more rock, but I need one 22-24 inch long shelf piece which my take some looking to find) Still messing with my heaters to get the temp up. I'm at 75 degrees right now. Just took my...
My Ushio 10k doesn't look yellow at all. It looks sparkling pure white with just a very slight touch of blue. Granted I haven't seen it over the tank yet, just on a test to make sure everything worked. However, from all the pictures I have seen with people using this bulb it looks just as I...
Wish I could make it but while I have been working on my new stand and tank for the last month my "honey, do list" has continued to grow. Since my honey also controls my fish funds and has threatend to end all future funding if I don't start getting some projects completed, it's time I get busy...
I've been to Aarons a few times and I agree, with what's been posted so far. The owners are very friendly, but not the most knowledgeable. The tanks really need to be cleaned more often, but I have seen worse. They had a pretty good selection of fish. I was disappointed in their coral selection...
My RO/DI unit is set up near my washing machine, so I used a "Y" fitting and connected the washing machine to one side of the wye and the filter to the other side via a compression fitting. It was very easy to install.
Cool Candi. Would love to hear about your setup. I've been thinking of converting one of my 20's to a nano after I get my 180 set up. Right now I have one 20 that's housing 2 of my original damsels and one huge hermit and another 20 that's empty. I'm thinking of making the empty one a sump for...
I would try Aquatic Obbessions, as Candi said. Even if they don't have it in the store right now the guys are pretty good at getting what you want. Also as Candi said, their prices are really good.
