=/ did they at least get better from when they started? and your crazy for buying anything (at least equipment) at absolutely fish lol prices are pretty up there 0.o could always go with a sump and plumb it under your tank with a bubble trap... but thats time/money. Would get the bubbles gone...
Your probally right. I havent been running my diatom filter. Probally in a month or longer :o Im going to go run that tonight for a few hours and start picking up doing that.
RIP firefish =( little guy must have jumped out a while ago... I just found him behind the tank.
Also while i'm on here i wanted to ask a question. How do you guys keep your sand so white and clean. I get some brownish almost rust colored stuff on top and some sediment can tend to settle on...
There is a nano tank on the counter at absolutely fish taht uses that kind of skimmer and puts minimal bubbles into the display. Must just be alot of fine tuning, They run a MJ1200 with it so mabye if you turn the ventrillo down so there will be less air coming through it.
Are you already using a filter sock on the return from the skimmer? Also does your sump have a bubble trap or anything like that? And are the bubbles being 100% caused from your skimmer or is anything else contributing to them.
Ok i got a few ways to deal with this now ;) Where does the water go that comes out of the skimmer, directally into your tank or does it dump back into the sump first?
If you drill a small hole toward the top of your return you can keep the mouth of it as far down as you want too. Look at this picture it should help you understand.

looks like the water level in your sump is a little low, Mabye if you try tightening your gate valve a little bit to raise the water level up that might also get the bubbles more time to dissapate =D
Also cover the top of the overflow box. If it came with a cover use it, if not make one out of plexiglass or just throw a towel over the top of it. You wouldnt believe how much of a difference it makes.
