here is a link from someone who tested it back in 2008. keep in mind temperature and test kits vary. from my experiance salfert kest kit is usually higher by one point than lamot test kits. so if you go by this your not to far off what the salt actually mixes at...
what are you doing to gauge salinity? are you by chance using a hydrometer? 11.8 dkh isnt the worst thing in the world. some people opt to keep it that high not exceeding the 12 mark. as far as your mag and cal they arent to far off one another. mag should usually be kept at three times the...
What are your current parameters, also what light are you running? A little more info on tank is needed. also is the part of the coral that is loosing color a part of the coral that is not getting any light?
Hello all. wondering if anyone close by me possibly had a fish trap I could borrow. A friend of mine is trying to get a lamarks angel out of his tank and could really use it. Thanks
I live in hillside. my friend lives in bloomfield.
Ive kept them alive and never feed them something that big, when I target fed them I used a coke bottle cut it in half and made sort of a funnel out of it. I would wover it and I would feed it a mix of rotifers cyclopeeze and phyto. I am now keeping a red one alive simply by brodcast feeding the...
I would have also thought, great food for my stuff. I would have never thought that it would be so bad for your system. That is nuts. I mean it is good in one way because obviously you must be doing something right, but what an unlucky event in one respect. Glad that everything is OK though...
Do you by chance have any angels in your tank. Or maybe a different fish that might be picken at them. Like previously stated it's hard to say without any tank info.
yes it is similar to vodka dosing. both are carbon sources. most people use them to try to achieve an ultra low nutrient system. the microbac7 will put in your system the "good" bacteria it needs to break all the stuff down and the reef bio fuel is basically the food that feeds the bacteria to...
I turn off my skimmer about one hour before my lights go out. I feed my amino's then. About half hour later I feed the pro skimmer and the coral visualizer. I also feed the startbac2 at this time. I leave my skimmer off for 3 to 4 hours that way the coral have time to take in nutrients. I tried...
Your mag is low. I think it would be incorrect to say that your alk being at 7 would be the cause for this. My tank is steady at 7 and I have no issues with corals thriving or coloring up. I would not think that your KH would be the issue. What salt are you using? The reason I ask is I use...
Sorry I have not updated this with my progress in a while but here goes. I did end up going with the loading phase of six weeks straight using the prodibio bioptim and biodigest. I am on my fifth week. This sunday will be the sixth dose. I decided to do this because I figured it really wouldnt...
I have to say I have not really had to much bad luck keeping fish. Had a few scares but somehow they ended up eating and doing good. My latest addition was my Achilles tang which at first wouldnt eat, but now is eating nori like a pig. He even eats brine and mysis now too. He is doing great!!!
If I am correct Ocean gallery has a cube with the LED retro fit already installed for sale. might wanna give them a call. they also participate with NJ reefers and give all members a nice discount.
Kz makes a product called pohls xtra that is supposed to be really good. I ordered it yesterday and hope to start it fairly soon. What are you using to actually feed the corals?
number 2 isn't that bad. A rabbit fish or fox face might eat that up, at least they have in my tank. try to keep it in controll though. you can always take the rock out and pull of with finger or a small pair of pliers. I also agree with all the rest. most alge like that are kept in a fuge but...
most fish stores keep salintity lower to avoid pest break outs. its a little trick they use. as for bringing up you salinity both meathods will work fine. just dont do anything to drastic to quickly.
