I flooded my laundry/pantry and kitchen something like 8 times while living in Utah. I turn the unit on to refill my jug, forgot about it and woke up to a flood. I was also living on the top floor of a 3 story apartment complex at the time. Now I put my container in the washing machine basin...
Interesting, especially considering I no folks that have pairs of MP 20s or 40s on 40 breader tanks.
I just added another powerhead to my nano. So I have a k nano in the bottom right shooting along the sand, a k nano on the mid-upper left shooting forward, and a aquaclear 30 on the upper...
Yes, most corals will cover whatever they are glued to. Branching lps is the big exception I can think of off the top of my head, but they can branch out to shade what the are glued to.
Unit: mA Single LED Luminous Intensity*2 = 1200
Unit: mcd Dominant Wavelength / CCT*1 = 467nm
UNIT: nm / K Beam Pattern = 120 degrees
Based on these specs from the original post you are looking at 3 lumens per led with a wide dispersion pattern. Sadly, there isn't a lumens to par conversion...
Are you looking at these for coral growth or just color supplementation? I ask because the specs on the leds and optics aren't the greatest for growth.
imo it depends on the size of your tank and what you are keeping. SPS or a larger tank, then I would say keep both. If it's a nano, then just the macro should be fine.
Ocean motions would be the way to go. You can also get creative with hole placement in your tank to keep plumbing to a minimum. Vortechs, though technically a powerhead, is pretty nonobtrusive as well.
