I'd still be using RC if it wasn't for receiving 2 bad buckets from Foster&smith >:( I used RC for years until that happened. Supposedly they fixed the problem but after I lost some irreplaceable corals I won't switch back. To me paying extra for the salt is well worth it, it's tough to stomach...
I wasn't going to say anything until someone else did ;D
Same here never got those numbers with RC or Tropic marin pro. TMP is close, Cal is closer to 430 and the mag is more like 1300, alk is right at 8
If you had a calcium reactor I was going to tell you to convert it into a nitrate reactor, it's very easily done. It will still add calcium to your tank and wipe out your nitrate in about a week without doing massive water changes. All you would do is remove the co2 tank replace the media in the...
Greg, how far are you pushing the liquid? I think it's only a problem when pumping over a distance, I just can't remember what the limit was. probably only a few feet at most.
and I know for a fact it wouldn't work for me.... it can't push 7' straight up then 20' across then 1' up then 3' over...
I had it running for 2.5 years before I changed the tubing on the one the other has been running for almost 3 years and still haven't changed it but it doesn't pump as far as the other. I don't trust the aqualifter pumps, from what I've read they don't last long when using it to dose kalk and...
Mike, it wasn't you but I remember talking to you about it, it was awhile ago (at least 2 years) mine was the same way tho after switching I didn't have to add it, mine held at 1430 after a few water changes.
I had the same problem when I used IO salt, it took daily dosing for about 2 weeks to get the level up and stay up but once I did a water change then I had to start dosing again. Someone told me they had the same problem with that salt and once they switched salts it went away. When I switched...
I'd recommend going with a aqua medic Sp3000 I use one to pump over 30' from the basement to the first floor living room on the opposite side of the house, and it wont break your wallet. They usually retail for around $90
if you want a whole top off system check thease out...
I would say it is, phoenix 14k's are a very popular bulb but is only available in DE, people who have SE and using the Hamilton said they were very similar in color.
I do run Phoenix 14K's on one of my tanks and do like them. But I'm going to be switching to the new Iwasaki 250w 14K's when...
Post edited to remove false allegations, humor value not withstanding:P....
here's a test you can do if you want to prove me wrong about overdrivin T5's, take your current overdriven T5 setup and compare it to 3 250w MH with good reflectors and a Ice cap electronic ballast, then compare it to...
Let me explain what I meant by defeating the purpose by overdriving T5's. You really don't gain much over MH's, if you add up the power consumption and added heat, what do you gain? You will be about the same if you were using 3 250 watt MH bulbs rather than using say 12 or more overdriven T5's...
Your absolutely right it's not as simple as that, it's a combination of multiples, I'm not saying you shouldn't or can't overdrive, I actually still know people who overdrive MH's but it's not something I would personally do. All I'm saying is just before you do overdrive make sure that it's...
