Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I agree with what Phyl said, creating a manifold for future projects or reactors would be awesome. But also having 6" left in the sump is fine and all but that's your first issue Try only having 3 or 2 inches left. I have about 2 inches when my pump is off. This also allows me to make larger...
You can do a couple things.
You can add more water to your sump. When my pumps are off my sump is 95%full. When it's running all that water goes down to the "opperating level". Not sure how else to explain this.
You can go with the smaller pump. You've already said you didn't want to, but...
Thanks.
I used to have problems with my Achilles and a Desarjini Tang but when I tore apart my tank to treat my corals I took the Desarjini to Will at Aquatic Obsessions. He was very aggressive and would chase everyone.
Now there aren't any issues with aggression. Once in a while my hippo will...
Thanks guys.
Everything is still small. Mostly Frags. The couple things that I have gotten to grow, I fragged and put back cause I want everything to grow together. Now I just need to stop buying things and concentrate on growth and water quality.
Ed let me know when's the next time you'll be...
If you want to mod a maxijet ... definitely go with the ones Darren(dnov99) recommends. I've tried others and when I seen his I thought they were great.
The only reason I didn't go ahead and get them was because of the amount of wattage each uses.
I mount them to a reef plug or disc. Boston AquaFarms.
I leave them on the sandbed for 2-4 days as to acclimate them to the lighting in my tank.
Then depending on where I want them to go I put the end of the plug in a hole or something. Or if they're going on a flat surface I cut the end off...
It does put phosphate and nitrates into your tank but technicaly all food does.
You just can't over feed. I feed a 1"x1" square on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday.
I feed Spectrum Marine Fish Pellet and a sheet of Seaweed on Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday.
I have 12 Fish in my 120
1 Achilles...
Vortechs are where it's at... I know some people don't like them cause they are only one directional ... and expensive, and one directional ... oh yeah and expensive.
But when you can do this ... I don't mind one bit.
I take about
20 steps to my car, 1/4 mile to Aquatic Obsessions, 10 steps to the door, 10 steps to the freezer, 2 bags of Rod's Food ... I mix it all up and viola... done.
lol. Rod's Food has everything.
Harry, sometimes the bulkhead being too tight causes the leaks.
The bulk head should be put on by hand and then tightened with the tool only a half turn.
I think your problem is only that the bulk head is not centered. Loosen it, center it, and then srew it back on.
