    Browning SPS

I picked up some 12 frags(SPS) at the swap. All 12 are in a frag rack relatively close to the surface under 2 250 14K Halides. All are doing great except 1(of 4 from Pacific East). Its a purple tip acro and I am observing some browning starting to occur with very little extension. All are in a...

    Great Zoas

Hi folks. Just a heads up. The Fish Tank in Sadlebrook has just some awesome highend Zoas in this week. I was there yesterday and picked up 2 large pieces(not frags) of some gorgeous high end zoas for $60 each. I have a very discerning eye for zoas and these are hot. There were a bunch left...

i want to get a colorful angel.

Only Fowlr. Tried a few corals and all the angels had a field day. Works for some and others not. Again, I would highly recomend the Rock Beauty. Wonderful fish, animated and quite intelligent. Good luck Fixed quote markers

    Water movement

I have a 75g reef predominantly comprised of Zoas. I have a Coralia 3 and 4 providing water movement. I was wondering whether those with advanced zoa skills turn down their pumps at night during and after the lunar cycle(moon lights)when the zoas close up for the night. Would seem to make sense...

    Blackcap Baslett

Wow, I am quite shocked and thanks for your experience. I have yet to see this guy for 10 days in my 75. Lots of places to hide though.Given its coloration, I had hoped to at least catch a fleeting glimpse. So far not a sighting. I will be on the lookout .Thansk for the imput. Stay tuned.

    Blackcap Baslett

I recently bought the above for my 75 reef. I drip acclimated into the tank and never saw him for 7 days now. The tank has alot of rock and I know they are deep reef dwelling fish. Hoever, its just bizarre that I have not seen a glimpse of him/her.the only other fish in the tank are a six...

    Starfish/Zoos??????

Phil, yes , that is exactly what I have based on the Goggle search. Unquestionably, I have seen a degrading of a Zoa colony where the asternia seems to stay. Everything I just read says they should be removed. Is this the case?? Thanks

    Starfish/Zoos??????

I have some very small 1/4 inch things in my Zoo tank which resemble baby starfish. They are very small and whiteish in color. I always see them around my zoo rocks and wonder if they are eating my zoos. One particular colony seems to be eroding somewhat. Anyone have an idea if theses are bad...

    Zoa Lighting selection

Just an update to this ongoing saga. I have opted to upgrade to a 75 gallon from a 55 which allows me to add the type of light I wanted. To that end, I have aquired a dual 250 watt Marristar/T5 fixure which will hang above. With a little luck and a 65 degree basement I will not need a chiller...

    Zoa Lighting selection

Thanks everyone for the imput. However, the plan has changed. I am aborting the 55 gallon idea as its way too narrow and cannot accomodate a 15 inch halide combo. I have now opted for a 75 which is 18 inches wide which solves that problem. Next for the light. I plan to hang it and am...

    Zoa Lighting selection

Thanks Phil for the reply. You might be right. The width of a 55 may not accomodate a halide/ T5 fixure. I have a 220 which is mainly fish and live rock. That tank has an Aquatinics 14 bulb T5 fixure. Now that I have been bitten by the coral bug, I am upgrading from a small 20 gallon high reef...

    Zoa Lighting selection

I am upgrading my 20 to a 55 for all reef. Have lots of Zoas to move over. Can anyone recomend a light combination. I was thinking of two 150 halides with T5 actinics. Thanks.
