    Merv's new 40 gallon build

So after all the gurgling . . . I tried this out- I attached the chiller return hose to go back into the sump (the chiller isn't hooked up yet). I opened up the pump full blast, thereby reducing the amount of water going back up to the tank, lessening the amount of water going DOWN the...

    Merv's new 40 gallon build

got my RO filter this past weekend which I am installing in the basement but it has poured concrete walls. I have opted to drill a 3/8 inch hole to fill it with a wooden plug and then throw a screw in to hold up a piece of left over 3/4" plywood to mount the RO unit on. There is also a pressure...

I guess I'm the only one indoors tinkering with the tank. If I were closer to "home" I'd be out fishing like always, but I'm not driving an hour and a half from Philly to my fishing hole near AC only to drive an hour and a half to clean it and freeze it..... Gone are those days. :)

    Merv's new 40 gallon build

Built the housing today for the lumenarc mini. Pieces of ply left over from the build were used to make the fixture which measured 17 X 17 X 8h. The reflector fit right in, but I had to make a little notch to allow the rear of the Mogul socket through. Next day off is...

    Merv's new 40 gallon build

and then I shortened the length of the light bracket for the reflector since I want to create a housing for the whole thing. It was throwing me off dimensions wise, so I cut it. I'm only using 250 watters anyways, and the bulbs are relatively short- here's the whole fixture with the...

    Merv's new 40 gallon build

Plumbing- Finished off the 'dirty water' return: and completed the plumbing underneath the tank. I had to make a few changes around the original design by adding an extra valve and re-routed the location of some PVC pipes so the stand wasn't too cluttered looking. and...
