This morning, before I left for work, I routed the edges and smoothed out anything that needed it. I really should wet-test, but I'm too excited to get it hooked up and running already..... I guess it'll have to wait till tomorrow! I added extra glue on the corners to be on the safe side, and I...
refugium build:
OOOOOOOH BLACK ACRYLIC IS SEXXXXY!!!!
predrilled the fuge output (via stockman standpipe, not durso as the scribble above states)
glued together:
The light fixture was painted today, but since I got my hands on some more acrylic, I figured I'd work on the new sump-
Here are some of the pieces that I already cut earlier today.
and the start of the sump build-
oh there's more, but that'll have to wait till tomorrow- I'm...
I also continued my failed completion of yesterday's RO system install.
The worst part in my opinion is the installation of the RO feed. It's a rental property and I crossed my fingers hoping that I wouldn't lose my security deposit by doing this.... aaggghhhh.
I guess I'll be buying some...
This arrived today...courtesy of the other half....yaaaaay
She is my "Amazon Queen"
Not the South American type, the shopping kind :D
Note the "treat" she has in her hand
8 panels with lighted toggles..... verrry niiiice (borat accent)
in the sump?
I'm installing a bubble box soon which cuts down sump noise almost 90%
I will post it up as soon as I get the new sump built and up and running. I ran out of acrylic, I'm gonna make a run to the plastic place tomorrow to see if they have more pieces I can use.
I used tap water for almost 2 years, the SPS ALL did phenomenally great. When I switched to RO/DI, it only got better. Our tap water in Galloway is probably one of the better I've drank. Municipalities and treatment facilities differ from location to location
TA-DA!
Right before I hung the RO/DI unit for the picture, the screw I was holding in my left finger got all rickety on me and my drill decided to take a dive and hit my finger. Not a bad cut, but imagine a spinning phillips head bit ramming the corner of your finger.
I'm done for the...
here's the sound of the top of the tank in the overflow box-
while not as bad as yesterday's gurgling, it's still a bit audible (maybe I'm just being picky now)
I didn't do much tank work today, I got distracted when I got home by the garden in the back- I brought home with me 80...
thanks John-
made the noise a little less distracting by cutting the pipe in the sump shorter- (it's temporary anyways until i build the bubble box and/or new sump)
the pipe sitting just above the water level in the sump lessened the gurgling since there was no pressure going against...
The soft pipe dampens it a bit, but you're right. The next sump I'm putting together will fix that-
That elbow can not, would not, shall not, will not and refuses to come out. My one feedback for Marineland is to definitely make that overflow box deeper, they actually put the elbow to the...
with my height, I can't see the distraction :D :D :D
yes, it has helped a bit, but it's quieter when there is a hose attached to it (to regulate the amount of air going in).
THAT was a huge distraction-
So after all that, I shut off the pump and noticed that the two auxiliary returns were siphoning water down. Disastrous if you lose power of course!
So what I basically did was to add a siphon break by drilling a small pilot hole which eventually became a large pilot hole and then added a...
