If it's the drain from the overflow box try putting a bio ball in the box where it drains out. But it must be inspected to check for clogging.
You also want to take the output pipe from you overflow box out of the water in the sump, you can also increase back pressure by adding bends or elbows...
I am having a problem with what looks like a dust blowing around in the display. I am sure it is not bubbles (that problem has been solved). It is not an easy thing to get a picture of. I have a filter sock in the sump and a 50 micron pad between the bubble traps. Flow in the tank is about...
How does one gauge between too much flow, and enough flow to keep the corals happy and the detritus from settling? I know it is all in how you direct it as well, but one can't have every inch covered with flow. This is a sps and soft dominated tank.
Yes an AGA90RR. It is using the stock stand pipes. The anti-siphon hole is about 1/2" under water when the pump is running. I am seeing the bubbles in the fuge too. The fuge is a 15 gal display fuge sitting beside the main tank on a standard metal stand, fed from a T off the return pump and...
I got a deal on a Seio 1500 and pulled out the K1. I am getting a new Seio 1500 to replace the K2. that should be good enough for my flow and keep the flow mixed. (4900 gph)
BTW, everyone is saying not to pull 3 power heads to add one, my original post said replace 3 with 2. We all agree the K1...
Sorry it took so long to get back. Life happened.
I hard plumbed the return with a union, valve, and a few 90 elbows and a T and valve to my refugium (one less pump now). No leaks ;D Still no luck, still seeing micro bubbles flow out the return. This mag 9 is only 6 months old, and while I had...
do you think if i hard plumbed the pump to the return bulkhead instead of using the barb fitting, this would be enough to stop the cavation?? Has anyone had success stopping cavation in their tank?
I have heard stories of people using mag 12's and 18's on a 90, so what makes my mag 9 do this...
In sump
Inertial cavitation might be the cause, I didnt think of that. Is there any other way to stop it other than diverting flow? are different pumps more prone?
I have a substantial amount of micro bubbles coming through my return into the tank. I am out of ideas on how to stop them. ???
What I have tried:
3 panel bubble trap in sump (under/over/under)
Filter media inside bubble trap
Filter floss inside bubble trap
Filter media and filter floss...
You might also want to consider the reflector that comes with the light. I get more light out of my 4x 54w Tek retro than a friend of mine gets out of his 8x 54 coralife fixture. More bulbs doesn't really mean more light.
the 4 I have now doesn't seem to move much water as it is, thats why I want to upgrade. I was thinking of putting the 2 seios in the back angled forward kinda intersecting flow about the middle of the tank.
I have done some homework on wavemakers and most including some well know reef writers...
I didn't want to hijack the other thread so...
I have a 90RR sand bottom mixed reef, and I am looking to upgrade my water movement. Currently I have a mag 9 return wide open, a Koralia 3, Koralia 2, and Koralia 1. (about 2600gph turnover total)
I was thinking about removing all the Koralias...
