How about something like this: Using the check valve just to prevent the water from going up but pulling air down when there is suction?

I am looking for 1.75". Both the harbor freight stores in my area don't stock the glass cutting bits. Also it would be too much to take this tank to a glass cutter for them to do it.

I have my skimmer 1 compartment away from my return pump with 2 sponges in my under/over/under bubble trap and still have micro bubbles too. I am not sure if there is a way to rid them completely.
