I am leaning towards the Tek retro w/ the Tek II reflectors.
Also what configuration and brand of bulbs would be best for growth?
54w T5 HO 48" Actinic Plus Lamp
54w T5 HO 48" Aqua Blue Plus Lamp
54w T5 HO 48" Midday Lamp
54w T5 HO 48" Pure Actinic Lamp
I am sold on T5 lighting over PC and MH. I am looking for a good 6 bulb T5 retro that will give good performance but not break the bank for a 90 reef with lps, sps, and clams.
A lfs offers a Hagan 6 bulb setup for $500 including bulbs, reflectors, ballast, caps, and standoffs.
On ebay there are...
well I am trying to get the best bang for the buck without breaking the bank. I think icecap is out of my price range. Just a decent quality t5 would be fine. I don't have a preference to brand.
it looks as though the water was falling too fast. I had the overflow draining straight down, which I guess was causing suction. I added a FEW elbows and the noise went away.
thanks to all that replied.
I have a 90 reef tank currently setup and I am thinking about going with a retro fit T-5 lighting setup.

How many 54w t5's do I need in order to keep lps, sps, and clams in this 90?

I know everyone likes the icecaps, but I am looking for other suggestions as well.
thanks
I have a chance to get 2 of these almost new @ $100 each complete, just wanted to see if any one had experience with these lights. I am sure 440w is plenty for my 90 reef.
Does any one have any experience with hellolights.com? I was thinking about this light for my 90 gallon reef. http://www.hellolights.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=364
Any advice?
Thanks
I am looking for a new light set up for my 90 gal reef. Currently I have a 36" fixture and i can't light the MH because of the tank support. I am looking to go t-5 this time in hopes of better growth and maybe a few pennies saved.
its not much of a splashing sound, more of a gulping sound, like air bubbling out the bottom of the drain. I did have the drain above the water line in the sump, but that made both a splashing and a gulping sound. I can hear the gulping from 2 rooms away!
The tank has a standpipe, I am not sure...
Actually I was looking for a pump to return to the main tank from the sump.
I hooked up a mag 9.5 and I am still getting the gulping sound, the pipe in the sump is below the water level in the sump, and I tried moving the standpipe up and down, but no change. I'm not sure what to try next. I am...
What is the suggested return pump for a 90 RR tank? Right now I have a Quiet One 3000 (780gph) but it doesn't seem to be keeping up with the overflow. I have heard of some using mag 9.5-mag 12 pumps, I think a 12 would be way too much.
So what would you suggest for an internal pump that wont...
thanks, but I will still have to decline your sheet idea.
My fish guy tells me the 90 should go on sale again in about 2 weeks. So if I don't find one on here by then I will be going new.
I am looking to upgrade from my 65 to a RR 90. I am looking for stand, tank, and canopy preferably in pine or oak. I currently have a sump, lighting, pumps, etc, but I will entertain those offering a full setup, budget allowing.
Thanks in advance
I got an email from aquarium center about this tank sale and thought I would pass it alone for those not on their list:

For those in the southern part of jersey, there is a fish store maybe 15 minutes from the del bridge. The guy knows his stuff and usually has some very good pieces, and his prices are decent. I was in there a few weeks ago and was buying most of his order before he even got it put away.
Anyone...
Maybe I am being impatient but I am expecting some growth. I have all types of zoas, stars and mushrooms and they all look great, but very limited growth.

65gal /20gal sump(about 300gph through sump)
250w 10k MH, 192w atinic 03 PC (bulbs replaced about 4 mos ago)
