Hi,
I echo Phyl's advice. Be very careful. Whenever I handle live rock, I feel a pinch and in very short order, the area reddens and develops a mini localized inflammation that takes several days to heal. Same goes for corals. The only time I had a problem handling a coral without getting...
Hi,
Since I didn't get a response, I took a chance and added the Masuda (Peppermint) Hog to the tank and so far, have not had a problem with either hogfish.

Hi All
Wow, a lot to consider here!!!
As for managing parameters, it is unfortunate that the many and expensive resources (in terms of animals, equipment & time) required preclude most hobbyists (even dedicated ones) from conducting experiments using the "scientific method". For one thing...
Mlad... Interesting and accurate observation...my browser takes me directly to the forum page and not the home page...was just too lazy to change it 'til now

Hi candi
First a few observations....The tank looks great with a nice open reef structure; the animals look healthy and happy and your comment about no "gunk" settling anywhere in large amounts is important. To me, these things mean you have very good flow now.
So when/if you change things...
Hi...Wattage of the heater depends in part on the room temperature where the tank and sump are located. I have a 135 reef in my family room where the temp is kept fairly constant at about 68-72 degrees throughout the year, so I use only a 250 watt submersible titanium heater. It is hooked up to...
Hi..It is not clear as to who is eligible to vote for this Director At Large NORTH position...all members or only those living in the North Region. As a member living in the Central area, I assume that I am not eligible to vote for the North's representative.
Is this correct?

Hi All,
I have a 135 Reef with a mix of Soft, SPS and LPS corals on lots of live rock..The fish contingent consists of..3 Medium Tangs
(Hippo/Yellow/Vlamingi); a couple of 2-3" wrasses; a percula clown; 2 watchman gobies; a Flame Hawk; and a 2.5" Twinspot Hogfish.
All get along well, eat a...
Hi,
I agree with JRod. The Gramma gets nastier as it gets older and larger. Had one for years in a 75 Reef and it became very aggressive. Ever notice the size of its mouth relative to its overall size? Really big!

Hi Tina,
Best Of Luck in your lovely new home...I am envious of the fast work. :P We started renovations inside and outside a year ago and are still at it :'(

Mike...First one looks very much like an Australian Goniastrea. The last one is very likely a Lobophyllia with "feeding" tentacles extended. Can't help re names of zoas.
Beautiful photos of some beautiful, healthy corals.

Hi.. Over 30+ yrs ago, my wife bought a goldfish bowl and an Oranda to keep our kids entertained and to bring a little nature into the house. Well, as is the case with newbies, she kept losing the fish via the typical mistakes of overfeeding, etc. That's when I first became involved in the...
Hi...Best to stay away from this stuff :-X and concentrate on the things that bring us together such as how to effectively eliminate those #!*&^*!@#* aiptasia. :D :)
