Used Joe's Juice to get rid of the few aiptasia I had..Very effective stuff!!! I keep some on hand and use it as soon as I spot any aiptasia, even if it's just one. Keeps 'em from spreading.

Super setup with some very thoughtful and creative adaptations..I look foward to following your progress as well as Constantine's. I think it's great that you both are publishing your actions and your reasons for them. Watching you guys has prompted me to buy a Nano...a 9 gal. Aqua Medic Wave...
Re: spaghetti worm
Agree with John: spaghetti = good.
Re Ph: 7.9 of and by itself is not too bad especially if taken at night or first thing in the AM when Ph tends to be lowest. However, you might want to check your alkalinity level since it can tip you off as to whether you are likely to...
Looks promising Mike...Set it up, wait a few days as Bill suggests, then test for key parameters (ammonia, nitrite & nitrate). If they test OK, pick up the fish, acclimate them at the same time but separately, then when done put them in at the same time at opposite ends of the tank. Chances are...
Beautiful setup. I enjoyed your sharing the setup chronology you had on another forum, just as I am enjoying following Constantine's experience on our forum

Jack's point is well taken. If the customer knows that the fish are often incompatible, he/she should assume the risk and not the store owner. And, if the shop pushes customers to buy fish that can be aggressive to each other without telling them, then that shop should be avoided.
Also, I know...
Perhaps they will and probably should do this for a long standing customer with a track record of past purchases.
To do this for anyone else is bad business. First, if the fish show agression, they must be separated/handled/moved quickly for the second time in a few minutes which can be...
Of all the dwarf angels mentioned in this thread, the Pygmy Angel (blue with yellow face) is the best bet..I have never seen or heard of these little guys going after corals. I saw the ones at Aquatic Obsessions and they look to be well acclimated and eating.

PS..With all due respect...
I have had an elegant coral destroyed by dwarf angels (Flame & Multicolor combo). They constantly nipped at the tentacles. I've also seen them seriously stress Tridacnid clams and nip at SPS corals (but to a lesser extent). I've never seen them go after any of my soft corals though they showed...
Hi Mike
It seems to me that strictly speaking a "true" nano tank (as I listen to people talk about them) is probably a free-standing system with its own biotope and not one that depends on another system for its life support. That does not mean that it cannot be a "unique living space" for...
I stopped by on a Friday after spotting the "New/Grand Opening" sign as I was driving past. My first impression was an unfavorable one. Although the display reef tank was impressive overall, ie. crystal clear water containing a good variety of healthy corals, the livestock (both corals and fish)...
Hi Candi.. Although I have a small Craftsman generator, it is not for use on my 135gal.Reef. We are reserving that for use with Fridge, etc. Instead, I have the tank's maim return pump (and my computer and home theater) hooked up to individual APC Battery Backup units. The reason is that over the...
The key to not having to handle Live Rock is to use large pieces and to epoxy the corals to them if possible. This way they won't get knocked down either by passing fish or by you when doing maintenence. Too bad I didn't take my own advice (LOL)
My Percula Clown and cleaner wrasse constantly nibble (painlessly) at my hands while a number of other smaller fish like my Flame Hawk swim around my them. My problem comes in handling Live Rock and Corals which occasionally pinch my hands which then sometimes become irritated by the invading...
