Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
IMHO I would deffinitely cure the rock under the right conditions... Its better to be safe than sorry... i would whip up a fresh batch of SW and cure it in the rubbermaid... Couple more weeks of patience avoids headaches later down the line..

Ive actually had my tank drop down to 72 because my heater plug came out of the socket when i was toying around underneath the tank... Everything turned out to be fine... All you have to do is slowly bring up the temp over the course of the day which was already mentioned above... I normally...
Ya I would deffinitely make sure that everything with your overflow and plumbing is in order because you will deff have a wet mess if the sump overflows.... Perhaps it lost siphon and back flushed into the sump through your return? Its hard to tell what happened by your description but glad...

RO water and monitoring the hours which your daytime lights are on each day... Keep the phosphates and nitrates down and the algae will have nothing to feed off of and it'll starve...
Basically the best thing you can do to avoid the nuissance algae is to keep phosphates and nitrates low... Also avoid adding any silicates... All of these can be found in tap water so the easiest solution is to use Reverse osmosis water.... As stated above though, if this is a new tank, it is...
