    xenia not opening

I'm not sure if I agree because you are only factoring the nutrients and not lighting. I have a 20L that has softies and PC lighting. The other softies grow well but xenia doesn't grow in this tank. This is the bastard tank and doesn't get tested but I'm sure there are nitrates in there. When I...

    xenia not opening

It spread so quickly when my tank was new. I used to chisel off three frags a month. Eventually it brushed up against the glass and started to climb. I was happy because I could just scrape it off the glass and bring frags to share at my reef club. The growth slowed down over time though. I...

    xenia not opening

Xenia can be tricky. When my tank was new it grew like a weed and then as I became more SPS dominant it wasn't happy. Try a nano without SPS and see if it does better. Here's a pic of my tank where the xenia thrived at the top of the glass.

    Looking for Tank pictures

Too much rhetoric about sand IMO. If it says Caribbean and safe for kids it will be safe for your tank. There are many things we pay way too much for because it has a fish label on it. Many times the same item can be found at a fraction of the cost. Look at the price of DIY two part compared to...

    Tank shot That sand is too expensive IMO. What you want is caribbean play sand. This used to be the standard. {Fixed Pic link}

    Micro-bubbles in display tank

I was following along with this thread partly because I was getting micro bubbles too. I recently rebuilt my tank and while the configuration of my sump is the same I moved the skimmer, eliminated the refugium, changed my return pump, and added another return. Each day I played with the ball...

    Micro-bubbles in display tank

I'm surprised you don't see any problems prior to emptying the sump. At a quick glance I would think you need another baffle on the right side but you say you don't see bubbles there. I agree with Dave about the last chamber as well. You don't want that running so low. IME you see some...

    Micro-bubbles in display tank

How is your sump set up? Do you have it running in one direction or is the return pump in the middle? One small trick can be putting some LR below your overflow pipe. This will break up many of the larger bubbles. Then you can buy sheets of filter media and place them in your baffle to break...

recommend tubing line that for CO2

Sure, you can use RO tubing for the water lines, however how are you going to draw and feed water 45'? What kind of a pump is going to draw and push the water through? I have my calcium reactor right next to my sump and I worry about the hoses getting clogged. If you read Melev's website he has...

recommend tubing line that for CO2

No, RO tubing isn't recommended. Here's what it says on the F&Q sheet from Deltec. Regular nylon & particularly silicone airline tubing can allow as much as 30% of CO2 to leak through the membrane. This greatly impairs the efficiency of CO2 or Calcium Reactors. Moreover, silicone tubing reacts...

    Controllers

I have an AquaController Jr. I bought it over a year ago because I needed a ph controller for my calcium reactor. This little computer does so much more. It has eight channels that you can control. Three of the channels control my lights, two pendants and a moon light. Another channel controls...

    Preventative Dips

Preventative Dips You’ve read about the benefits of quarantining your corals but you haven’t made the commitment because of space or time considerations. The next best thing is to use preventative dips to protect your precious investment (financial and emotional) in your reef tank. I use a 5 ½...

Thanks. I eventually found them after searching a little. It's a lot to read but very informative. I ended up raising my pendants.

    After the crash

Do you have a link? I am presently using 250w Reeflux 12K bulbs. For the last three years I used Phoenix 14K in my Hamilton Protostar fixture. I am getting much brighter colors than I had previously when I had sand in my tank. I also upgraded to a Deltec skimmer and added a Deltec calcium reator.
