The VHO Super Actinics will give you that flourescent pop that you are looking for.
I have always used the Phoenix 14K for the look and PAR. They look more like a 20K. If I was to change it probably would be the Reeflux 12k or possibly the XM 10K which require good actinic supplimentation IMO.

That's been pointed out to me before. I paid for a 180 a couple months ago but haven't picked it up yet. Trying to sell this house in an abysmal real estate market so I can set up the 180 in a new house. Until then that wall is going to stay bare.
I'm not sure it is the amount of light it is receiving. I have mine up high in my 90 gallon tank under a 250w MH 14K Phoenix bulb with 2 x 110 VHO Super Actinics. I've had it over two years now and it is growing well. I've never heard of a hydno turning yellow brown but it doesn't sound healthy...
