Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I am sure I am not the only one, but I need at leat 3 for auto top off, fresh water, and saltwater mixing, etc.
Float valves are also needed if available.
Thanks
They aren't cheap, but all I can ever find are the white ones. I think the gray are schedule 80, but that is probably overkill, they have the white ones at home depot if you can find them ;D
Found the 1" online $19.99...
Some updates:
Electric is run, I just need to setup the outlets and power panels. Two 20Amp circuits at the display and two down in the basement. After talking to a few people on the forum about backing things up, I figured it would be best to run some extra line.
Here is the plumbing coming...
Thanks Johnny. My GH is around 11 and my TDS is 315 before the softener and 345 after it. I may have to go with a Kati Ani unit at this point. as in the long run it may be cheaper to maintain.
Thanks Mike, but you have done WAY TOO much already. I thought you might never want to talk to me again after moving this sucker :-) With the hardness I have (around 11) I figure the Kati Ani is the way to go. As much as I want to fill it up and get it going, I still have the leak test and...
I am so tired of the "You must be thursty" comments. I am gonna give the Kati/Ani a try. Going to arrange a pickup with Bruce at the party this weekend.
Here is the rock curing:
I put up the sheetrock, and ran the plumbing to the basement. (Sorry, no plumbing pics, it was 3am)
Hi all,
Skimmer:
I need a Reeflo 250 Orca or equivalent rated protein skimmer.
Pump:
and was told the Iwaki 70 or Blueline HD70 would be sufficient, but may run an OM 4-way, so looking for an 100/HD100 or equivalent.
Looking for 2 Vortech MP40's
Thanks,
Ron
I have completed about 80% of the plumbing, the rock is still curing, and I am going to start the electric next week.
I'll have pics up probably tomorrow.
The TDS meter puts my water at 315ppm before the softener, and 345ppm after. I guess the softener salt drives up the level a bit. I am...
Aravind, Dan did a great job of hiding his plumbing. He helped me setup my 28g and really introduced me to the hobby. I will refer to that thread when I start plumbing. Did you see the orange int he drawing is actually pulling to the pump? Paul from Oceans Motions said its great to get the...
Hawkeye: Not sure how to explain it, but I would be willing to work with my existing softener as long as it doesn't prematurely kill any of my new tank components. We had some issues with the washing machine, and had to get it fixed.
When we had the softener system cleaned, the guy said that...
I was thinking about the plumbing. Since I have the OM-4way, I was trying to think how I might incorporate it. The recommendations from Paul are pictured below, as best as I could draw them:
This looks a little overkill to me? I'd like to use the 4-way rather then powerheads, but you will...
Spent a few hours down at Will's place. Chatting about plumbing, RODI, Salt, Lighting....pretty much everything. Very knowledgeable guys, and even walked me around explaining their setups in the shop to me. It was extrememly helpful and I appreciate the time they spent.
I was able to get the 4...
The numbers shouldn't change since its really just a more efficient system It uses two canisters with media instead of 1, same salt and cycle. From what they told me, the unit I have only has softened water available part of the time, so hardness fluctuates. The new unit should make this more...
I am going to put a tall canopy on top, that will tie in to the beam above. Most likely a combination of hinges, panels, and drawer tracks. I also received some great advice on a light rack. When I get it planned out I will post the info.
I am planning on putting fans on the short side canopy...
The local plumbing supply had bulkheads but were not a low profile fitting like the ones I have. Since the tank is 2"'s longer then anticipated, I only have about 4"'s of room before knocking into sheetrock, or adding on to the front of my stand. So I am going to speak with Will at Aquatic...
Thanks everyone :-) Yeah its a step up and then some, haha.
Question about the glass, since this is a used tank, the glass has some smudging on the inside, probably from Choraline or something. It doesn't seem to come off with white vinegar. Is this something I would have to buff out? I would...
This is my second build, but is significantly larger so please bare with me. If anyone has any questions or comments, please feel free. Your advice and experience are always welcome.
I bought a 28g nano about a year ago for a few reasons:
1. My daughter's Therapy
2. Learning Experience
3. To...
