    RODI unit Setup

Hi all. I will soon be getting an RODI unit, and need to start thinking about any issues. 1. I have Well water with High Iron and Manganese. (I think they make High Iron RODI units, any recommended brands?) 2. The Water is hard, I have a softener system that is too small for the house. I am...

14K or 20K HQI Bulb in 28g JBJ Nano

I may do the 14, with the 2 actinics supplemented. Does anyone know how the addition of bulbs works? Do I run the HQI for 4 hours and put the actinics on at either ende (dawn/dusk) for 6 -7 hours of light. Or does the HQI and actinics run together? (seems like too much light, but let me know.)

    LEDS SYSTEM BULID

Here is a pic from the nano tank section. 28g nano with LEDs replacing the single HQI fixture. It's especially nice to go LED since the HQI in this fixture is 150w and heats up the tank due to its compact size.

    Water Changes

I was doing 20% every two weeks, changing to a weekly schedule maybe at 15%. I couldn't get rics, zoos and paly's to grow well, but SPS were doing fine. I am looking for a happy medium.

14K or 20K HQI Bulb in 28g JBJ Nano

I have to replace my HQI bulb, and I think the original one was 150W/14K, though I heard that the 20K bulb would make the corals pop due to the increase blue spectrum, but could potentially slow growth, possibly bleach corals. (Tank Depth is roughly 19") So the options are: 1. Get the 14K...

HELP! Wavemaker needed, power outage safe

Thanks Mike. Not finding many used controllers. Am looking at the Aquacontroller Jr., and reefkeeper lite. Trying to decide what is the best bang for the buck. The reefkeeper elite looks good with all of its monitoring, but what a price tag! This chiller is on sale...

HELP! Wavemaker needed, power outage safe

They are already aware of it, its a disclaimer in the owners manual. Not sure if they have any plans of fixing it, but I can't seem to find a work around using the same unit. I googled the issue, and apparently this is not uncommon to other wave makers either. What do you use? Have you...

HELP! Wavemaker needed, power outage safe

I have a JBJ 28g Nano Cube. It has the 2 cycle JBJ Wavemaker. When ever we have any power loss, the system defaults to 0 seconds thus activating both pumps. The only way to change it back is to switch to zero, then back out to the 30 second position (the setting I run it at) The issue, the...

    4'X4'X2' starphire $400.00

Any of you guys know how much money it would take to get that system up and running, and what an average monthly cost would be to run/maintain. Just wondering. I have a 28g nano, its my first tank, and it would be a hell of an upgrade :-)

NewB with 28g nano Cube HQI

The ALK kit I bought is in milli/eq so the DKH is around 7 according to a conversion chart. Hard to tell since the chart is just Low-High. I am going to get ALK Builder in the group buy, as well as a more precise test kit. Thanks for the heads up.

NewB with 28g nano Cube HQI

The clowns are in and my kids are thrilled. We sat on the knee wall after dinner, and watch them swim until it was time for bed. Now, I am going to focus on the group buy, and get settled in. Will take Dan's advise, wait a week or so, then focus on frags. Thanks for the advise and...
