Well i made enough water to fill the one sump. Connected the pump this morning and finished the plumbing for the return line. Fired the pump up tonight. Now my question
If you recall i made both the holes in the overflows drain lines. I put a durso on the 1" hole of each overflow. Left the...
nitrates were beginning to drop in the rock holding tank. i moved them up to the display tank. 100% water change. will give it a day or two and then test see where i'm at. A copuple of the rocks came right from the FO tank. They are the darker color rocks.
I must be patient. I must be patient :(
The old tank looked great Eva. I think you will even better with your new bigger tank. Great looking pictures too. I would let the new tank cycle before adding anything. You may remember it usually takes 4 to 6 weeks to cycle. When you say you added MORE live rock, do you mean you used the rock...
Well finally got the water in the tank. Here are a couple pics. I'm sure I'll end up moving some rocks around as i stare at it more
Left side
Right side
Didn't get many pics. Battery on the camera went dead so I'll need to charge it for the meeting tomorrow ;D
Rob; the size pipe you need will depend on flow requirements. Can you post some pics with what you have. when i mentioned the size holes in the overflow i was talking about pipe size after you install the bulkheads. your drains may be different than mine.
Closed loops don't go to the sump...
I think its important to automate everything you can. It never fails when i go away something bad happens. One time while i was away a snail got in the drain line and partially blocked it. Well with 150 extra gals in the basement you can imagine what happened. More water being pumped up then...
bummer Francis. Hope you can find replacements. Sounds like a lot of people think it was O2. How big was the holding tank? Did you have some flow in there?
I think no matter what size the holes something is going to clog it. There must be some type of switching valve to change from inlet to outlet. You will deffenitly get more flow closet to the pump. I know in the greenhouse for irrigation they have little prssure regulating valves so you get the...
the holes in the overflow, one is 1" the other 3/4". Some people use the 1" as a drain to the sump and run the return back using the 3/4". Others use both the 1" and 3/4" as drains to the sump and run someother type of return. Not sure what you mean about drill to 1 1/2". You will need to one of...
Finally got a chance to start working on the plumbing. Drilled the new holes for the 2" drains. Going through the side into a closet and then down to the basement. Everything going good. Go to put the male adapters in the bulkhead and yep you guessed it i cracked the the bulkhead fitting. No...
I tried once to convert a FO tank to a reef. Never could get the nutrients down. I think the problem with converting is you start out behind the 8 ball. The fish have loaded up the system with junk. its hard enough to keep nutrients down when starting at zero. don't want to discourage you just...
I have the CS8-2 with a Sedra 5000. Just replaced mine but i think it went bad because it sat a long time without running. The magnet was siezed in the pump. Got mine from Marine Depot but had to modify it to fit. Seems Euro Reef changes the outlet size
