If he's going to use a reef salt and keep softies for now, I wouldn't think he'd need to supplement anything as long as he does weekly 10% water changes. I mean, I run an LPS/SPS system and I never supplement calcium as my weekly water changes add all that I need.
Reef salts are salt mixes specifically formulated for reef tanks. Like Instant Ocean Reef Crystals, Seachem's Reef Salt, etc etc. Red Sea makes a nice reef salt.
With corals, it's definitely a much better type of salt to use. I'd recommend using Seachem's Reef Salt mainly because the price is...
I would start using a reef salt now that you're going to move onto coral in a few weeks. It will have higher calcium, higher trace elements, etc. You won't have to supplement as much also.
Something like Seachem Reef Salt or whatnot. Stay away from Reef Crystals, though, as I NEVER had good...
I'm glad for Ryan, too. That's a nice set-up he has now. The only thing I recommend is getting rid of that background and putting up a black one! Now that he'll be getting real coral in a few weeks, anyways! ;)
It's probably military time, right?
Like, right now the time is, I believe, 18:16 via military time or something of the sorts.
Likely, you push down the notches on the side during the time you wanted it lit.
So if you wanted it lit from 10am until 8 or 9pm, you'd push in the notches from...
Re: Here's my 120
Hey, Bax, you have any frags ready yet for sale? I'm finally stocking SPS again in my tank after the crash and in a few weeks I might need to hit you up!
Once in a while I have to tap mine (I have 1 K3, 1 K2, 1 K1) but other than that, they restart without a problem. A bit noisy upon restart, but no issues. They are well over a year old, also.
I doubt the actinics are causing anything to go crazy, though. They add such little real usable light energy to the tank. The MHs are what I'd worry about.
My light schedule is as follows:
Actinics: On whenever I wake up (usually around 8am -- off at around 10 or 11pm)
MHs: On at 11AM, off at...
I'm contemplating getting some corynactis anemones for my reef tank. They can grow (and grow well) at high reef temperatures or cold water temperatures. Kind of shocking. They are quite gorgeous, too. Anyone know of any place that sells them online?
I don't see why not. They should be able to get them if they don't have them.
And yeah, they give you a 10% discount on all purchases. You show them your card once and they put it into the computer along with the expiration date and it's in there permanently.
The only "freshwater" fish I would ever dream of using as a feeder are mollies (but they are brackish/marine fish more than freshwater, anyway) -- and even them for only a short time. Stay away from feeders in general.
Man, I would get rid of that Sea apple. Sea apples and Koralias DO NOT MIX. Once that thing moves up there and gets splattered by the Koralia (which will happen eventually), everything in your tank will die and you'll pretty much have to get rid of all the rock/sand. Those things are not only...
I Can say that, right now without spoiling anything, the replay value of this game rivals that of the old Fallout games.
I'm playing this time through as the most evil character I can possibly be. I've gotta say, it's a bit emotionally trying on me. This is the first ever game where my...
I agree with this. Always good to wait a bit, Ryan. You don't want to have a nice frag get overrun by nasty blue green algae and succumb from it. Wait at least a few weeks. :)
About a month after the Talbot's damsel inside my back refugium either gets caught by me or dies. ::) ::)
I don't care what he does at this point. Spent hours trying to catch him!
