Re: Propagation Tank Setup Help.
OK here is the skinny in the eggcrate. Stopped and picked up some samples lastnite and gave them to the lab this morning. The guys were excited about this, something different to do I guess. They ran the whole gamut. Mass spectroscopy, chromatography, ionic and...
Re: Propagation Tank Setup Help.
Another note that was just brought to my attention. Because these eggcrates are UL listed. They will have a flame retardant in them. Usually Triphenyl Phosphate. It is also water soluble. However its solubility is degraded in natural seawater. (35% in 14 days)...
Re: Propagation Tank Setup Help.
Ok without giving away trade secrets, I have just been informed that the principal ingredient in antistat for styrene is ammonium alkyl phosphate (sort of) ((which can create some crazy salts in the right conditions)). It is water soluble and a vinegar solution...
Re: Propagation Tank Setup Help.
If it is white "eggcrate", the styrene is pretty pure. Any other color and there is a high chance that there is recycled components to it.
Also remember that that there may not be PO4 in the "eggcrate" but the styrene is a hydorcarbon product. Un bound...
This post was split off from the original thread where the question was raised: "is eggcrate ok to use in frag systems". This part of the thread took on a life of its own and deserves its own thread. --Phyl

I think its an acrylic sump he had built. Take a piece of wood and using the hole saw your going to use, cut the same hole in the wood first. This will be your guide on the top. Put a piece of wood on the bottom and clamp-sandwich the acrylic between your wood. Then drill away.
Yeah but that is just one genus member of the family Amphinomidae. They come in all flavors.

I am in the process of setting up a 120 long with a CLS. I am not setting up a spraybar on the bottom. I have two 1.5" dumps out the back of the tank down to a Reeflo Dart pump, then up to a 1.5" manifold that completely circles around the top of the tank with 10ea. of 3/4" Loclines. The guy...
Ozone is O3, three atoms of Oxygen. It is an unstable gas. It is a great oxidizer, very reactive with other compounds. Used in an aquarium, it can react with hard metals, convert waste products and act as a disinfectant.
It is harmful to you health if you breath it. As little as 1ppm can cause...
If its a sodium based softener, put the Kati after it. The sodium replaces calcium and other hard metals. Someone with more knowledge with the Kati will know better. If it is a Hague softener(Basically a large RO), you probably dont need the Kati.
Going to use a 55gal for a sump on my 120 long with twin overflows.
The 55 is 48"X12"x20" high.
Return will be in center, fuge on end. Fuge end will be 12"x12"x17" high with bulk heads into return section.
Overflow and skimmer section will be 24"X12"x14" high. I am thinking of just trying a...
