Thats what I sent earlier in the thread, you want the pvc tank wall mount with polyethylene float. Pick the flow rate you need. ~$35 page 452 p/n's 5741K28 or 26

Been out of the reef game for almost ten years...kids, a move...etc....
Last few weeks been putting together a 120, just finished a custom oak stand for it tonite. Canopy is next on the list. Trying to do as much DIY as possible on this one. No fun in just buying things.
There shouldn't be anything inside the valve except the plastic plunger and a seal. Replace the nut and bolt with a plastic set, use a plastic float arm from a toilet set and a plastic ball. Looks like the pivot pin is stainless as well, but being that small it shouldn't be an issue. Besides...
It looks like a cotter pin and a wingnut and bolt. They can be changed out. Pin can probably be left in place. You may be able to use a plastic float arm for a toilet valve.
I would think you want the bulkhead version, mount it thru the side of the tank.
You will probably need to find a plastic float rod or make one, stainless is no good in DI water, DI will pull ions out of any metal. Even titanium will corrode in DI.
Here is a quick drawing:
You want to use a float valve with threads going in as well as out. Main goes to in of float, out threads of float get plumbed to filter. So the water going through the float doesn't actually get dumped into tank, instead it regulates water going into filter.

Agreed on the electric solenoid. But he doesn't need the gate valve or the smaller reservoir. Just a descent float valve that can hold the pressure of his main water supply. But I would definitely put in a manual valve too.
NPT= National Pipe Thread
Mainwater supply piped to inlet of float valve in 55 galllon tank, outlet of float valve in 55 gallon piped to inlet of filter, outlet of filter just dumps into 55 gallon tank with no valve.
When 55 gal tank is low, float opens water feed to filter. Water flows thru...
Actually you can get floats that have not just NPT on the inlet but also on the outlet. So you can put the second float in the 55 gallon. Line in for tap to second float, second float outlet to input of filter. Actually then you can eliminate the original float and you feed the filter with...
You do not want this airborne and entering you tank. I would say that while the work is being done, turn off, pumps , skimmers, etc. Cover tank with plastic to prevent any airborne particles from entering the tank. When the work is done, open windows and ventilate the house, or room where tank...
General rule of thumb with ozone. Only things safe from breakdown is glass, stainless steel and teflon. All else will have different half lives of breakdown. Its just a matter of how much ozone with how much contact time with the materials in question's molecules.
Even though in this hobby we...
Third generation Rohm & Haas geek, anything you need to know about plastics, polymers and their reaction to the environment or chemicals, I am you man.
Cast acrylic will not be affected by Ozone. But the plastic in the pump may be affected in the long term. Any butyl rubber will be as well. Most polymers will be affected but only if they are NOT cast. Casting creates a different chain in the polymer double chain. So if its extruded or injection...
