Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I wanted drinking water, and I was tired of buying bottled since I didn't like the chlorine taste. Second of all, a buddy showed me his RO system and pointed out his float valve that he T'ed off for his reservoir. I went further and imitated his setup so I have drinking water on tap, drinking...
LOL. I used to use tap water + salt for 2 years in the beginning. Never had a problem but then again each municipality is different.
Careful with the vodka dosing if you plan on doing it. Slowly ramp up to 1/2 to 1mL as Rich mentioned, but follow the recommended guidelines!
AND.... this is how I plan on achieving the same pictures from the same angles.
and here is the tank center for myself to use as a comparison in the next 90 days.
I plan on ddocumenting this for only 90 days since I think this is ample time to see measurable results. As always...
Took pictures yesterday with the following settings:
M mode: 100 @ f3.5
ISO: 100
White balance at 8300K (closest to what I see in real life)
Lights were both on during tank pics
Pictures were taken and loaded on photobucket where they were resized, no post processing of pictures whatsoever...
So yes, it's official. I started a new regimen last night.
Piggy backing off the original regimen of pure Vodka dosing, I have decided to mix it up a bit utilizing Vodka-Sugar-Vinegar in the ratios of 200mL-50mL-1.5 tsp respectively. This is based on a few threads about Carbon dosing that I...
:)
It's not slow. It's slowER compared to the 60mm (I don't really have a deep tank anyways). Had them both at one time, 105 went to a good home that would use it more
okay, so I got back from The Hidden reef and a little diamond in the rough store called The Fish Factory next to a fancy club :)
From the hidden reef, I picked up a 6 pack ampoule of Prodibio biodigest (17.99), Brightwell's CoralAmino (125 mL for 21.99) and a pincushion Urchin for 8.99 The...
No I have not, a friend who was in the hobby did this for a little while and I noticed that his corals were pigmented better than when I had them in my tank, I think I attributed them to the lighting I was using, but the more I think about it now, it makes a little more sense. He had fresh...
Bill, degrees are bits of paper that simply say that one has been provided with a formal educational background on the processes of the basic stuff. Experimentation, application and results are what really matters, and I'm not afraid to do so. Most of what I have learned come from fellow...
tried this a few years ago.
temp drop was a degree if lucky. Flex tubing is a very good insulator. Too good unfortunately. I tried to source out titanium coil tubing, but the cost would have offset the savings of the electric bill not to mention the cost of running the refrigerator and heat the...
I had the caps placed lower in the tank and was a little shaded since I needed the floor space for frags. They browned out a bit, but have been moved up and is back on track for growth and color. WIll post as soon as they start growing into each other. It's amazing how lack of light hinders...
Tank's been running exceptionally well since I started adding Vodka way back in September. Colors have been the best I have ever had, growth is amazing even under bulbs that are in the higher spectral range than what I used to use (65K's)... BUT like a kid who can't sit down, I need to do...
I almost almost almost almost bought a harem of moorish idols for a phenomenal deal- after Bill shed some light, I read and read and read, and decided not to get them. Maybe when I have a 500 gallon tank, maybe then, would I think about getting them, so thanks Bill!
Hmmm, let me see- I...
