    Two Part Solution ?????

Think of it as extremely fine sand. You can gently blow it with the turkey blaster off your corals, though they should be able to slime it off by themselves. Just shake the stuff off the chaeto. This might cloud the water a bit, but the stuff is "inert" now and will not pose chemical danger. Let...

How to route overflow hose into sump?

Submersing the end of the return pipe would silent the noise and would reduce the amount of bubbles.

    Two Part Solution ?????

That happens with any of the 2 part solutions (Kent, B-Ionic, TwoPartSolution) when you add larger amount of the Alk part. Flakes are 1/16" to 1/8", and they quickly dissolve.

Start of my aquapod - help as i progress

That is not true. Flat Montis will layer too. Montis of this type (plate forming), will try to create horizontal layer as that optimises their absorption of light. But at the same time, different parts of the coral will also compete with each other for the best position towards light and will...

Coloring up SPS (was: Too Much Light??)

Very, very interesting thread. Human growth hormone aside, their solution is MASSIVE overfeeding, MASSIVE chemical dosing (Ca, Alk, Mg, Sr, I), way over NSW, and realy huge amounts of light (spectrum unimportant, 6-10W/gal) with aggressive skimming afterward. Well, I can at least overfeed my...

    There's a new...

I did my patriotic duty, but something doesn't look right. Among other things, I woted for Other as well (I cosider my fuge with DSB and macroalgae a filtration system), but when the statistics showed up, Other still had 0 wotes. Also, there was some category "0" there as well, below Other.

To Vista or not to Vista...

Precisely all those things that this corp geek is constantly battling his IT service against ::) There is nothing more frustrating then setting up some complex simulation to run for days over weekend, just to come on Monday and find out that some #@%$@! from Corp IT has remotely rebooted your...

I agree with you on the setup - it is really aesthetically bad - cheap plastic feeling. There are other ways you can make your fish in the tank stand out. If it was a case of a need for reduced maintenance I could understand, but with the amount of work he is putting into it (scrubbing glass...

To Vista or not to Vista...

Candi, before you do the reinstall, which by they way will cause loss of all your personal files, maybe you should look for some more obvious spyware on your system. In many instances anti-virus software will not handle them properly. When you cleanly boot a machine, and before you start any...

    Anyone know anything about telescopes?

At that price range, there are so MANY possibilities (virtually hundreds) you start looking for "real" features that are determined by what exactly you want to do. For example, are you interested in astrophotography or just viewing. If you are interested in astrophotography, then you have to go...

Live rock on glass or egg crate?

Eggcrate will create realy dead spots under the rock. Carlo's method of 1/4" is excelent if you have larger pieces, but if you have smaller pieces (lb or less) even smaller shifts of 1/4" univenly distibuted between many pieces can result in large shifts or instabiliy of the whole structure.

    Anyone know anything about telescopes?

p.p.s One more thing, just to clarify things. The most important thing in amateur astronomy is not the size of the equipment but the conditions under which you are observing. For most of the things that most of the people who are not fully dedicated to the hobby, would like to see, like Planets...

    Anyone know anything about telescopes?

It all depends on how much do you want to spend, how often do you want to watch, what do you want to watch, and where do you want to watch. (or in other words how serious she is about that). For medium quality and budget but not serious work, I would recommend Orion series both refractors and...

    Look what EATS!

I have figured a way how to target feed LPS without turning off the pump and food being stolen from their mouth. I use formula one pellets that I soak in the water slightly (so that they loose much of buoyancy) and then I load them in the clear plastic pipe whose inner diemeter is only ~1/8" ...
